Step1 Greetings
T: Glad to see you, again.
S: Glad to see you, again.
T: Did you have a good time during the winter vacation?
S: Yes.
T: New term has begun. You must work harder this term. Now let’s begin our class.
Step 2 Warming up and lead-in
1. Present the new language.
A: I like playing basketball. I can play basketball. Can you/your sister /your friends play basketball?
B: Yes, I /she/they can.
  No, I /she/they can't.
Perform actions or show cards to present some other verbs such as dance ,swim ,play the guitar .paint ,speak English , play chess etc .
2.Let the students practice the conversations in groups. Talk about their abilities.
A: What can you do?
B: I can...
Step 3Match work (1a)
In this procedure, students will learn to talk about different kinds of abilities and different kinds of clubs.
T: You are great. You can sing, dance, swim and so on. So you can enjoy yourselves with these things. That must be great fun. Now please open your books at Page 1. Look at the words on the left. They are words about abilities. Please read them. And we have seven pictures marked with a, b, c, d, e, f and g. Try to match the words and pictures.
Encourage the students to say something about the picture and do the match work.
T: What can people do in picture a?
S: They can dance.
T: Write “a” on the line next to the word “dance”. Clear?
...
Go on with the others in the same way. Then check the answers with the students.
Step 4 Listening (1b)
First, ask students about their abilities and the clubs they want to join.
Then ask students to listen to the recording and do Activity 1B.
Play the recorder. Then check the answers.
After this, ask students to repeat after the recording.
Step 5 Pairwork (1c)
Ask students to practice the conversation and make their own conversations.
T: You can do many things. It’s great. Now please talk to you partners about your abilities and tell them what club you want to join. Work in pairs and practice asking and answering questions about your abilities. You can make your own conversations.

1)play + the 琴 play + 球/棋/牌 play with + … 玩……
2)情态动词can小结:后面总是接动词原形,没有人称和数的变化。意思是”能,会”用法口诀:
情动can表能力,和行为动词不分离.不管主语如何变, can的模样永不变。
只要出现情动can,动词原形后面站.一般疑问can提前,否定can后not添。

Step 2 Warming up and lead-in
In this procedure, ask students what clubs are there in their class, what club they want to join and about their abilities.
T: Good morning, class. Nice to see you again. I can sing. I want to join the music club. Do you have a music club in our class?
S: Yes, we have.
T: Do you have other clubs?
S: Yes, we do. We have English club, swimming club, art club ...
Step 3 Listening (2a, 2b)
In this procedure, students will listen to the recording and learn to talk about the clubs they want to join.
Play the recorder, and check the answers.
Ask students to listen to the recording and learn to talk about joining the club.
Look at the conversation in Activity 2b. Fill in the blanks with the words in the box on the left.
Then ask them to listen to the recording and check the answers.
Go on with the others in the same way. Then check the answers with the students.
Step 4 Pairwork (2c,2d)
Ask students to practice the conversation and make their own conversations.
T: You let these students join your clubs. Maybe your classmates want to join your club, too. Now work in groups and practice asking and answering questions about the clubs they want to join and their abilities. You can make your own conversations. Also, you can use the pictures in Activity 2c to help you.

Do you want to make a poster in English by yourself? Now work with your group members, think of an even at our school. Then try to make a poster by yourselves.
The events may be the music club, the Sports Day; the art festival and so on
Ss work in groups. First think of an event at the school. Then try to make the poster. Teacher walks around the classroom. Give any help Ss may need. Ask one of the students in each group to write the poster on the Bb. Check and find out some mistakes in common.
Step 4 Self Check
Tell Ss what they should do. You can add as many words as you can to make phrases. Give Ss an example: play the drum, play the piano, play the violin, play the guitar; play chess, play volleyball…
Ss work in groups. Try to make as many phrases as they can. They should write down their phrases on their notebooks.
Let some Ss read their phrases. Let other students add more phrases.
