Every one of us are thinking about the future.I have decided to become a middle school teacher.Does it sounds surprising?
I have had this dream when I was a child.I love children.I don't think to deal with them all years round is just wasting time.On contrary, to me it means happiness.Like we all can see, teachers are badly needed in our country, and not many of us want to become teachers. One of the main reason is that teachers work too hard but get too little. In spite of that, I'm determining to devote all my life into the cause of education.
五、阅读理解
If you want to convince the boss you deserve a pay rise or promotion, the solution could be simple—eat the same food as they do.Psychologists have discovered managers are much more likely to instantly trust us if we choose the same dishes as them.
During experiments, discussions over wages and work conditions were much more successful if both sides chose to snack on the same treats. And shoppers were much more likely to buy a product advertised on TV by someone eating a similar food to them at the time.
The reason is thought to be so-called similarity attraction theory—where people tend to like others who have similar tastes or habits to themselves. But this is believed to be one of the first studies highlighting the role of food in this relationship.Researchers at Chicago University in the US conducted a series of experiments to examine food's role in earning trust.
In a test, participants were told to watch TV—where someone pretending to be a member of the public praised a certain product. The volunteers were given Kit Kat bars to nibble, while the TV people ate either a Kit Kat or grapes as they talked.
The results showed viewers were much more likely to express an interest in buying the product if the TV showed the other person eating a Kit Kat too.
The researchers added, “Although similarity in food consumption is not a sign of whether two people will get along, we find consumers treat this as such. They feel more trusting of those who consume as they do.It means people can immediately begin to feel friendship and develop a bond, leading to smoother transactions from the start.”
Harley Street psychologist Dr.Lucy Atcheson said it was already known that wearing similar clothes could instantly create trust. But this was the first report that food had the same effect. She said, “This is really interesting. It makes sense as people feel they have common ground and can trust the other person. That means negotiations are more likely to be successful.”
1.According to the passage, customers are likely to buy a product from a dealer who ________.
A.has the same taste as them
B.advertises his products on TV
C.reduces the price of his products
D.pays attention to the quality of his products

A.food plays an important role in earning people's trust
B.bosses like employees that have the same taste as them
C.people who have similar tastes to their boss's earn more
D.people have less interest in buying products advertised on TV
3.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.People who eat similar food are more likely to trust each other.
B.People will get along with each other if they like to eat similar things.
C.The effect of wearing similar clothes hasn't been proved by researchers.
D.People are more likely to make friends with those wearing the same clothes as them.
4.Which of the following sayings can be an example of the similarity attraction theory?
A.Honesty is the best policy.
B.All good things come to an end.
C.Birds of a feather flock together.
D.Where there is a will, there is a way.

A British friend told me he couldn’t understand why Chinese people love eating sunflower seeds as a snack so much. “I’ve met a lot of older Chinese and many have a crack in their front teeth; I believe that’s from cracking the seeds, ” he said.
I had never noticed the habit, but once he mentioned it, I suddenly became more aware. I realized that whenever I’m watching TV or typing a report, I always start mindlessly cracking sunflower seeds. My friend doesn’t like sunflower seeds, and, to him, it seems unnecessary to work so much just to get one small seed.
When we were young, the whole family would usually get together for Chinese New Year. Then, we all lived close to one another, usually in a small city, and sometimes even neighbors would go door-to-door on Chinese New Year’s Eve to check out what every household was making.
I remember my parents would be in the kitchen cooking. Out in the living room , a large table would already be laid out, complete with fancy tablecloth, ready-made dumpling fillings, and dishes full of candy, fruits and sunflower seeds. Some of the dishes were to be offered to our ancestors later, while others were for neighbors and children to eat before the evening feast. I must have learned how to crack sunflower seeds back then.
I don’t think it’s right to criticize one’s choice in food or eating habits, no matter how strange they may seem.
It’s not only in China. When I went abroad, I found people had all sorts of strange habits when it came to food. In Denmark, they put salted red fish on bread and eat it for dinner, no matter how much it ruins your breath. They think it’s a delicacy, and it’s connected to their culture. I think it’s a wonderful tradition.

What’s more exciting than having a fresh hot pizza delivered to your door? How about having it brought to you by a robot? Thanks to Domino’s Robotic Unit or DRU, that just became a reality! On March 8, the three-foot tall robot delivered its first pizza to some lucky residents in Brisbane, Australia.
The fully autonomous DRU is the result of cooperation between Domino’s Pizza Australia and Marathon Robotics. The 450-pound machine that travels at a maximum speed of 12. 4 miles an hour can traverse a distance of up to 12 miles and back, before requiring to recharge the battery. LIDAR, a laser-based sensor technology similar to the one used in self-driving cars, enables DRU to detect and avoid obstacles, while traditional sensors, much like those used in vacuum robots ensure its path is safe as it heads to its destination.
The robot can fit up to ten pizzas and even has a separate cold area to accommodate drink orders. To access their food, customers have to enter the unique code provided for them by the company. This not only ensures that they pick up the right pizza, but also prevents the pies from getting stolen.
Scientists expect additional DRU’s to be ready for service in their various Queensland locations within the next six months. But don’t expect these super cute robots to replace humans anytime soon. According to Domino’s the DRU still needs extensive testing, which the company believes could take up to two years.
And then there is also the issue of regulations. The public use of autonomous vehicles is still banned in most countries. But Don Meij, the CEO and Managing Director of Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand Ltd, is not worried. He is“confident that one day DRU will become an integral part of the Domino’s family. ”
1. What’s the fun_ction of LIDAR?
A. Recharging DRU’s battery.
B. Keeping DRU free of obstacles.
C. Helping DRU find its destination.
D. Protecting DRU from bad weather.
2. The underlined word “accommodate” in Paragraph 3 probably means “________”. ?
A. hold B. sell C. heat D. show
3. What can we infer about the future of DRU?
A. It will replace humans soon.
B. It will be applied worldwide.
C. It may be banned in Australia.
D. It may need some improvements.

五、阅读理解
When slaves were first brought over from West Africa to the southern parts of America, they brought along with them aspects of their own culture—religion, dance, language, music, and cuisine.A mix of the two cultures eventually appeared. The religious dance of the ring shout turned into modern dances like the Charleston, and tribal chants slowly transformed into sorrowful hymns (圣歌) sung by slaves that described their hardships.
These soulful accounts by slaves of the severe climate and conditions began to be called “the blues”,which continued in popularity among African Americans after the Civil War.This music increased in popularity into the early 1900s when many black musicians became an important part of the music industry.
The slaves that had been brought over were from all different regions of West Africa, but they worked together until they gradually formed a common culture. This strengthened the identity of their music that, in the 1950s, eventually led to the beginning of rock and roll. The Beatles, the most influential band of the 1960s, are often determined as the accelerator that resulted in the ideology (意识形态) surrounding music that is still around today. The freedom and individuality associated with that time period brought forth a whole culture surrounding music. It was not just music any more, but a lifestyle.
Over the decades, music has developed into such a vital part of society and pop culture.Musicians are glorified, with tons of adoring and screaming fans. The modern technology of present day has allowed for a greater gap between the creator of the music and the fans, as well as a widespread commercialization of music. However, criticisms of modern pop music often arise due to its mass production, and now there is a lack of the same soul and quality of naturalness and simplicity in music that was rising in the early 20th century.
1.What contributed to the birth of the Charleston?
A.Various African religions.
B.People's love of tribal dances.
C.A mix of two different cultures.
D.The popularity of sorrowful hymns.
2.According to the passage, what can we learn about the blues?
A.It became popular in the late 20th century.
B.It may include the description of slaves' sad lives.
C.It mainly told the stories of the American Civil War.
D.It reflected the hard lives of many black musicians.
3.What does the underlined word “This” in the third paragraph refer to?
A.Slaves' collective work.
B.One region of West Africa.
C.The new common culture.
D.The music by the Beatles.
4.It can be learned that the music in the early 20th century ________.
A.possessed soul and sincerity
B.became more commercialized
C.was blamed for its mass production
D.widened the gap between musicians and fans

My students entered the art room with their usual eagerness to see what they would be learning in today’s class. Little did they know they were going to be students for a new teaching method that is spreading the nation.
I often use videos as previews and supplements (补充) to our art lessons providing students with a variety of artists showing their skills in real-life situations outside the classroom. Finding a new painting technique called glue batik(胶水蜡染), I thought of something new I hadn’t tried before! How awesome would it be to learn a new technique together with artists? The lesson was planned, presented to the students without any introduction or set objectives. I also asked the students to watch and pause the video as often as they needed to.
They watched as the artist explained and showed her skills, taking notes on her steps and results. After the video, they shared what they felt the artist’s objectives were, her end result using art vocabulary as well as the steps they would need to know to present their own examples. Then they began creating their works using the glue batik technique.
Surfing the Internet a couple of weeks later, I found that the teaching method I used sounded very familiar to a new movement in education called flipped teaching, which was developed by Jonathan Bergmann. He asked his students to watch video lectures at home and do exercises (homework) in class under supervision (监督). He found that grades went up and he also found time for other types of activities, which Bergmann states are more important than the videos.
Back to my art class, the students were learning to get ideas, make predictions, and explain reasoning to their classmates. Together they compared, asked questions and made discoveries as they presented the technique.
1. Which of the following is one of the benefits of flipped teaching?
A. Teachers needn’t check students’ homework.
B. Students can control their own learning pace.
C. Students can choose whatever they want to learn.
D. Teachers can develop their own teaching methods.
2. Who plays a central role in the flipped teaching?
A. The artist. B. The parent.
C. The teacher. D. The student.
3. What is the best title for the text?
A. The flipped teaching I used in art class
B. Jonathan Bergmann’s flipped teaching
C. A teaching method spreading the nation
D. A new painting technique called glue batik

French writer Frantz Fanon once said, “To speak a language is to take on a world, a culture. ” Since the world changes every day, so does our language.
More than 300 new words and phrases have recently made it into the online Oxford Dictionary, and in one way or another they are all reflections of today’s changing world.
After a year that was politically unstable, it’s not hard to understand the fact that people’s political views are one of the main drives of our expanding vocabulary. One example is “clicktivism”, a compound of “click” and “activism”. It refers to “armchair activists”—people who support a political or social cause, but only show their support from behind a computer or smartphone. And “otherize” is a verb for “other” that means to alienate (使疏远)people who are different from ourselves—whether that be different skin color, religious belief or sexuality.
Lifestyle is also changing our language. For example, “fitspiration” —a compound of fit and inspiration—refers to a person or thing that encourages one to exercise and stay fit and healthy.
The phrase “climate refugee”—someone who is forced to leave their home due to climate change—reflects people’s concern for the environment.
According to Stevenson, social media was the main source for the new expressions. “People feel much freer to coin their own words these days, ” he said.
But still, not all newly-invented words get the chance to make their way into a mainstream (主流的) dictionary. If you want to create your own hit words, Angus Stevenson, Oxford Dictionaries head of content development, suggests that you should not only make sure that they are expressive (有表现力的) and meaningful, but also have an attractive sound so that people will enjoy saying them out loud.
4. What’s the purpose of the quotation from French writer Frantz Fanon?
A. To serve as the topic of the passage.
B. To present one of the major views of the society.
C. To show the fact that language mirrors the culture in a way.
D. To lead to the topic of the whole passage.
5. The underlined word “coin” in the second-to-last paragraph probably means “________”. ?
A. use B. record
C. change D. create
6. How is the article mainly developed?
A. By giving examples.
B. By making comparisons.
C. By following a timeline.
D. By presenting research findings.
7. According to Stevenson, to make the words you invent popular, they should ________. ?
A. be easy to remember
B. have unique meanings
C. reflect the changing world
D. be meaningful, expressive and catchy

Ⅰ. 阅读理解
No one enjoys hearing the sound of someone else chewing their food. Most of the time, though, it’s not that big a deal but a minor annoyance.
But for a small group of people with misophonia (恐音症), the sound can be painful, causing extreme anger and deep discomfort. The most ordinary sounds of chewing and breathing can drive them crazy. Past attempts to explain the causes of misophonia have suggested everything from compulsive disorder to an easily-annoyed personality—but according to a study published yesterday in the journal Current Biology, the true criminal is the structure of the brain.
For the study, a team of researchers led by Newcastle University neuroscientist Sukhbinder Kumar recruited (招募) 42 volunteers, of whom around half had extreme misophonia and the other half served as the control group, and played them several different noises: some ordinary; some harsh, like the sound of a person screaming; and some that were ordinary for the control group but known to be annoying for misophonics, people with misophonia, like the sound of breathing. As the participants listened, the researchers monitored them for signs of anxiety, both physical symptoms and behavioral expressions, and observed their brain activity using FMRI scans.
The only significant difference in reaction between the two groups happened, during the misophonia-specific sounds, when those with the condition showed physical changes that suggested they were entering fight-or-flight mode.
Misophonics had increased activity in the AIC, an area known to play a central role in the system that determines which things we should pay attention to. When the trigger sounds were played, there was not only more activity in this region but also abnormally high levels of connection to other regions.
Misophonia, in other words, may be a result of misplaced attention the brain of a misophonic focuses on things that other people normally tune out (不予理会). On a related note, on behalf of misophonics and manners-minded moms everywhere: Please, chew with your mouth closed.

Dear Tom,
I’m sorry to inform you that the practice this weekend has to be cancelled for an emergency in my family.
This morning I received a message from my parents that my beloved grandpa had passed away. I have to leave everything at hand for his funeral and see him off for the last time. After all, I was the only child he had cherished best among all his descendants.
How I wish you understood my sadness for the loss of him and the dilemma between my feeling for him and the promise for you! But there are no other choices for me at the moment.
Time permitting, I’m bound to make up for the practice next weekend.
Wish you a happy weekend.
Yours,
Li Hua
