辨析:used to和would
used to:用于客观表示过去的一种惯常化了的行为状态,不仅表示“过去经常性的动作”,也可用于表示“过去持续的状态”,强调现在已经不这样了。
would:只表示过去一直反复发生的动作,无表示“状态”的用法,且感彩较浓,常译为“总会,常常会”,表示过去动作的倾向或趋势且现在有可能还会发生。
e.g:Her library used to be a meeting place for all who loved books and liked to share knowledge.他的图书馆曾经是热爱书籍并且喜欢分享知识的人们的聚会之地。
He would sit for hours without saying a word.他总是一声不吭地一坐几个小时。
2.One day, he offered me some crack cocaine. 有一天,他给了我一些可卡因。
offer sb. sth.=offer sth. to sb.向某人提供某物
原文可以改为:He offered some crack cocaine to me
扩展:offer 还有以下用法:offer +n./pron./to do
e.g: He offered me some advice.他提供给我一些建议。

扩展:break in 打断;闯入 break out 爆发;突然发生
break down出故障;身体垮掉;失败 break up 打碎;拆散;分裂;驱散

Step1. 动词不定式作目的状语
1.Paying attention to the infinitives in black.

2. Summary
动词不定式作目的状语,常用的动词短语结构为:to do ,in order to do ,so as to do表示________,only to do表示___________.

注意:
1. 不定式短语的否定形式应该在不定式符号to 前加not .
Eg : She studied very hard in order not to fall behind .
2. in order to 引导的目的状语,可以放在句首,也可以放在句末;但是 so as to 引导的目的状语,只能置于句末,而不能置于句首。
Step2. 结果状语从句

结果状语从句表示事态的结果,常置于主句之____。常由____,____ ____(结果/因此)____________________(如此…以致于)构成。

注意:
so ---that 和 such ---that 都可以引导结果状语从句,而且意思也相同,但在结构上是不同的.

3) So + many / much / few / little (表示多少)+n + that 从句
Such 的句型:
1)such + a / an + adj. + n (可数名词单数形式)+that 从句
2)such + adj. + n (不可数名词)+that 从句
