Teaching procedures
Step 1. Lead-in
With the help of the pictures, guide the students to think about the different origins
about how life began.
Make a prediction on what will be talked about in our new lesson.
设计意图:借助形象,生动的图片去引出生命起源这个不太生活化的话题。同时借助同学的讨论让学生学会看图思考,学会借意推测。
Step 2. Scanning
Look through the whole passage to match the paragraph with the main idea.
设计意图:帮助学生了解文章段落大意和写作的脉络。借助寻找topic sentence的方式渗透学生阅读的基本技巧。
Step3. Detailed-reading
Para 1-3
Learn about the formation of the earth with the help of six vivid pictures. Then ask students to retell the process according to the following steps so that they can not only know what happened to the earth at that time, but also can express themselves well. After that a question is given to introduce what is fundamental to the development of life.

According to the time clue, try to know more details about how life begins step by step. In addition,describe this process of development by making up a conversation.

Read this paragraph and answer the question “What is humans’ effect on the earth?”
设计意图:在对整个文章的主体进行细致处理的过程中,引导学生逐步了解如何阅读相对枯燥的说明文。借助图片,表格,时间线索等方式,使学生体会阅读的不同技巧,有意识地培养学生的逻辑思维和表达能力,帮助学生养成高效阅读的好习惯。
Step4. Discussion
After knowing the effects, think further. Talk about the problems we are faced with and the possible measures we may take in the pictures.
设计意图:使学生养成理论联系实际生活的好习惯,让学生在发现问题的同时,思考解决问题的方法。
Step5. Role play
Work in groups to discuss about the relationship between humans and the earth. Try to use what we have learned today. After the performance, evaluation should be given.
设计意图:提供培养学生批判性思维的契机。通过深入思考人与自然如何和谐共存,培养学生树立正确的环保观念。
Step6. Summary
Summarize what have read and what we have learned today. At the same time, make students know the logical and clear structure of this passage.
设计意图:1.借助梳理文章脉络,复习所学内容,理清学生的思路。
2.借助清晰的结构图,让学生再一次体会文章的逻辑性,同时渗透写作技巧。
3.再次总结出文章的标题,不仅可以与导入部分呼应,还可以帮助学生掌握倒推法,去选择文章的最佳标题,是教师对解题技巧的一种渗透。

设计意图:巩固所学知识和运用所学的写作技巧,是学生收集信息,处理信息,并有效表达的必要方式。
