1. 一般情况下直接在动词后加-s;
2. 以o, s, c, sh, ch 结尾的动词, 后面加-es;
3. 以辅音字母加y结尾的动词,改y为i,再加-es。说明:不规则变化的有
have —— has, be —— is 等。第三人称单数过去式和过去分词的变化规则:
1. 大部分动词在原形的词尾加-ed;
2. 词尾为“辅音字母+y”结尾的,将y变成
i,再加-ed;
3. 重读闭音节且词尾只有一个辅音字母的,

1)状态系动词用来表示主语状态,只有be一词。

2)持续系动词
用来表示主语继续或保持一种状况或态度,主要有keep, rest, remain, stay, lay, stand,
He always kept silent at meeting.
他开会时总保持沉默。

此事仍是一个谜。3)表像系动词
用来表示“看起来像”这一概念,主要有
seem, appear, look。
He looks tired. 他看起来很累。

4)感官系动词
感官系动词主要有feel, smell, sound, taste。
This kind of cloth feels very soft.
这种布手感很软。
This flower smells very sweet.
这朵花闻起来很香。5)变化系动词
表示主语变成什么样,有: become, turn, get, grow
She grew rich within a short time.
她没多长时间就富了。
6)终止系动词
表示主语已终止动作,主要有prove, turn out, 表达“证实”,“变成”之。
The rumor proved false. 这谣言证实有假。

与否定词not合用,构成否定句。

needn’t 没必要 ( = don’t have to )
can’t 不能; 不可能
may not 不可以; 可能不
shouldn’t 不应该 ( = ought not to )部分情态动词的否定式是情态动词中的考点之一。 注意: must not 的意思是不许可,不应该或者禁止。needn’t意思是不需要。
如:We mustn’t waste our time. --- May I take this magazine out? --- No, you mustn’t.

must 用于一般疑问句的时候,肯定回答应该用 yes, please 或者 I’m afraid so, 其否定回答应该用 needn’t 或者 don’t have to。不同的“肯定”程度可按下列层次排列:
He is at home. (事实)
He must be at home.(非常肯定的推断)
He ought to be at home.(很可能)
He could be at home.(很可能)
He may be at home.(仅仅可能而已)
He might be at home.(或许, 非常不确定)
He couldn’t be at home.(很可能不在家)
