Module 11 Body language
【教学内容分析】
本模块以肢体语言为话题。比较详细的介绍了各国的肢体语言,利用对话等相关内容展示了各国应该遵守的肢体语言规则。内容充实,且功能性强,学生在语言学习和语言训练的同时可以了解更多的外国文化。
本模块的语法内容是祈使句。掌握祈使句的定义及特点。会运用祈使句表达自己的情感、命令和要求。教师在教学的过程中要运用归纳法来帮助学生形成一个整体的概念。
【学情分析】
学生对本模块的中心话题会很感兴趣,握手等身体语言为学生所熟悉,所以便于开展听、说、读、写活动,激发学生的学习热情,积极参加小组活动。

【教学过程】
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Revision
Revise some words about body language.
Step 2 Consolidate new words
Look and say. The teacher shows the pictures of new words and let the students to say as quickly as possible.
Step 3 Reading and vocabulary
1. Match the words with the parts of the body
Look at the pictures and match the parts of the body.
2. Listen to the passage and find the main points of the text.
1) How close do you stand when you talk to a friend?
2) How about touching people?
3) Do you look at people when you talk?
4) How do you say goodbye?
3. Read the passage and answer the two questions.
1) Is body language the same in different countries?
2) Is it all right to stand close to people in the Middle East?
3) Do the British like touching people?
4) Do Americans look at people when they talk?
5) Do people in Greece wave goodbye?
4. Let Ss check(√) in the blanks on the table according to Activity 2. And then check the right answers in groups.
Step 3 Language points
1. Give them more personal space.
personal adj. 个人的
常在句中作定语。反义词为public, 意为“公共的; 公众的”。
e.g. It’s his personal room.

arm in arm 表示“臂挽臂地”。

hold (held/held) v. 握着; 使不动
e.g. The girl held her father’s hand.
女孩儿拉着她父亲的手。

move可用作不及物动词, 意思是“移动; 搬(家)”, 后跟宾语时需借助介词to, 其中to表示方向。
e.g. They moved to Shanghai in 1997. 他们1997年搬到了上海。
move away 表示“挪开, 走开”。
5. But in Britain many people don’t like other people to touch them at all.
not ... at all 意为“一点也不……”。
另外, not at all连起来在正式场合使用, 可以表示“不用谢; 不客气”。
e.g. I don’t know her at all. 我根本不认识她。
—Thank you very much. 非常感谢。
—Not at all. 不用谢。

It isn’t polite to do sth. 做某事是没礼貌的
e.g. It isn’t polite to speak loudly in public. 公共场合大声说话是不礼貌的。
somewhere表示“在某地”,somewhere else表示“在其它的某个地方”。
