朝阳二模B篇(易)
记叙文(学校生活)-理解信息
When he was 12 years old, the boy made a decision. He only later realized it probably hurt his teacher. He was, after all, a kid. But in time, when he was older and wiser, he wanted to find this teacher and apologize (道歉). But the teacher seemed to have disappeared.
In the past ten years, the boy, Larry Israelson, often turned to the Internet, typing the teacher’s name into search boxes. He never found anything. But he never stopped looking. Last month—by now nearly 39 years after the event happened—he got a hit.
Excited, he started reading a story I had written in The Oregonian about a program that helps kids. He studied a photo and found his teacher, who was a volunteer. He then emailed me and asked me to introduce him to the teacher, James Atteberry.
I got in touch with Atteberry. He agreed to talk to his student. Shortly thereafter, I received a package with an envelope in it. I immediately took it to Atteberry.
As James Atteberry read the letter, he was brought back to 1973, when he was a history teacher in Huntington Beach. In the letter, Larry said, “I am truly sorry for leaving your seventh grade class during the 1972—1973 school year. I don’t have many memories from school, but at the top of my exercise-book you wrote ‘You will go far in life.’ Looking back on my younger self, I was proud to be your student.”
When it comes to apologies, no one gets a pass. Everyone needs to receive one, and everyone needs to give one.
51. What did Larry feel sorry for?
A. Not finding the teacher earlier. B. Forgetting many school things.
C. Not finishing his homework. D. Leaving the teacher’s class.

答案:D
答题依据:倒数第二段I am truly sorry for leaving your seventh grade class during the 1972—1973 school year.

记叙文(学校生活)-理解信息
Imagine you are walking to school when suddenly you notice a wallet in the street. After picking it up, you realize that it’s full of $10, $20, and $50 bills. They add up to $500! What would you do?
Would you hand the wallet over to your headmaster as soon as you arrive at school? That’s just what Kemoy Gourzang did.
“I have lost money before,” Kemoy, a 10-year-old boy, told the reporter, “I knew if I had lost my wallet, I would have wanted it back.”
Joy-Ann Morgan, the headmaster, immediately called the owner of the wallet, using the ID inside. The man did not realize he had lost it. Morgan said he was happy to learn that an honest kid had found it.
“This is what we want to teach our students,” Morgan explained.
Kemoy has learned that doing the right thing pays off. His school district gave him a “Good?Citizen”?prize in honor of what he did. A person who has good citizenship is responsible and does the right thing. Kemoy has also received gifts from complete strangers, money, gift cards, and even a pair of sports shoes.

On the morning of the day when he left Compton High School in Los Angeles, 18-year-old Allan Guei asked seven of his classmates to come together. Guei, a star on the basketball team, expressed he was giving away the $ 40,000 he’d won in a competition and was dividing it among them. The room filled with shouts and cheers. “Everyone went mad with excitement,” he says. “They were surprised that I would do something like that for them.”
In November 2000, Guei’s family moved from the Ivory Coast to the United States, and he immediately took up basketball. “When I first came to California, the Lakers were winning: it was Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal era (时代),” he recalls. “I just fell in love with the game.”
A few years later, he was playing for the school. Then, in March, he entered a free-throw competition at the school, and the town saw just how big a team player Guei really is—both on and off the court (球场).
In the first round, each of the eight contestants (竞争者) took ten shots, and the top four shooters advanced. “I was one of the final four, but I really didn’t shoot that well,” Guei says. “I was nervous!” In the second round, however, he took the winning shot. He went home with the prize of $ 40,000.
A few months before Guei left school, he was offered a full scholarship (奖学金) to California State University, and he had an idea. “I could have kept the prize money, but I was already going to college for free,” Guei says. “I knew the others were going to have a lot of difficulty paying for school. They needed it for their futures, so I just decided to give it away.”
Now wearing No. 25 on Northridge’s Matadors basketball team, Guei has little time for anything but training and studying, though he keeps in touch with most of his classmates. “I know those kids. Whatever they decide to do in life is going to be something good,” he says. “It was just the right thing to do.”
As for his own future, Guei is still learning. “I work really hard at everything I do,” he says. “But whatever happens in my future, I’m just happy that I was able to help somebody else along the way.”

The day when the jobs were handed out was the most exciting for the children in the class. Every child was given a job for which they would be responsible for the rest of that school year.
As some jobs were more interesting than others, the children were eager to be given one of the best. Among them Rita stood out. She was a kind and quiet girl. Last year she carried out the teacher's instructions perfectly. She was the favorite to be given the best job---to look after the class dog.
But this year there was a big surprise. Each child received one of the normal jobs, like preparing the books for the lessons, cleaning the blackboard or looking after one of the pets. But Rita's job was very different. She was given a little box with some sand and one ant. Although the teacher insisted that this ant was very special, Rita could not help feeling disappointed.
"I will turn this little task into something great," Rita said to herself. She started to study everything about the little ant, gave it the best food and made the box perfect. The ant ended up growing quite a little bigger.
One day, the teacher announced that Rita’s class had been chosen to accompany Doctor Martinez to the tropical rainforest to study all kinds of insects in summer, because the class had best cared for the little ant.
The class was filled with joy. Everyone thanked Rita for having been so patient and responsible. And children learnt that to be given the most important tasks you have to know how to be responsible even in what are apparently the smallest tasks.

记叙文(动物)-理解信息
The Song of Cicadas
Late in the summer, on a cool evening, Addy and her father heard a song high in the trees. “Listen!” said Daddy. “Cicadas!”
Together they searched the trees around their yard and found empty cicada shells. “An insect used to live inside,” Daddy explained. “When it grew bigger, it left its shell behind.” Gently Addy and Daddy pulled the fragile shells off the trees and collected them in a bucket.
Just as Addy reached for one of the shells, it began to walk! The cicada was still inside. Addy watched it slowly crawl up the tree. Then it stopped and sat motionless for what seemed like a long time. A small crack began to open down its shell. The crack got wider and wider, until Addy could see the insect’s back emerging. When its head popped out, Addy looked right into its shiny green eyes.
Slowly and gently each leg slipped out of the shell—two small ones on the front, two in the middle, and two bigger ones on the back. Addy could see two tiny, thin wings that looked like wet paper.
Daddy brought out a chair. “Aren’t your legs getting tired?” he asked. “You’ve been watching for almost an hour now.”
“Look, Daddy!” exclaimed Addy. “Something is happening to the wings.” “The cicada has tiny vessels in its wings,” said Daddy. “It fills these vessels with fluid from its body to expand the wings.”
Patiently Addy sat in her chair and watched and watched. The sun went down, and the air became very cool. Mommy called from the house, “Time to come inside!”
Reluctantly Addy went inside. When she was ready for bed, she and Daddy took his flashlight out to check on the cicada once more. It was still resting on its shell.
“It was hard work for the cicada to come out of its shell,” said Daddy.
“It probably needs a long rest.”
When Addy woke the next morning, she ran outside to the tree to check her cicada. A fragile, dull, empty shell was hanging in the spot she had stared at for so long.
That evening, as Daddy pushed Addy on her swing, they heard a familiar
song high in the trees.
“Listen!” said Addy. “My cicada!”

53. Which event happens first in the story?

8. 大兴一模D篇 (难)
记叙文(社会关系)-理解信息
Mi Lan loves to buy clothes from Taobao. It saves time and sometimes you can find really cheap goods.
After a recent online shopping, Mi took photos of some of her most satisfying goods and put them to a lifestyle forum(论坛) on Tianya.cn. The 25-year-old hadn’t expected it would be the beginning of a nightmare.
The returning message Mi received were unacceptable. “You call this fashion? How old are you? 50?” read one message. Another accused(谴责) Mi of advertising for these clothes: “Get out of here with your ugly goods! Don’t waste people’s time!” Yet another message questioned Mi’s money situation, saying the clothes looked cheap but that even poor people should have a better fashion sense.
“I just wanted to share my online shopping experience,” said a deeply red-faced Mi, who deleted her photos from the website the next day. “But now I’ve lost confidence in my image. None of my friends told me before that I dressed in bad taste. Why are people so unkind online?”
Why? We used to think that people are rude online because of hiding behind anonymous(匿名) situation, we feel like we can get away with anything. But since the rise of social networking sites, we are not as anonymous as we used to be.
Still, rudeness goes everywhere. Sina’s Weibo, for example, requires users to register(注册) with their real name, yet people do not shy away from using dirty words whenever they disagree with each other. It is worse with some famous people and so-called “public stars”, some of who might even use personal attacks(攻击). Politeness and good manners do not get you noticed on weibos, but strangest and most impolite words will.
Scientists and researchers have tried to find out why we do wrong things when using social websites. According to a Wall Street Journal article, recent research suggests that visiting social networking sites brings down our self-control.
This is because most of us present a beautified image of ourselves on Facebook or Weibo. This good image and the encouragement we get from good words uplift our self-respect.
But when we are too proud of ourselves, we might show poor self-control. It’s a bit like drinking: wine might make us feel good, but too much wine harms our minds and makes us lose our self-control. Many people forget that they’re speaking out loud when they communicate online, especially when posting from a smart phone.
56. What happened to Mi Lan?
A. She got attacked on the Internet.
B. Her photos were well-received on the Internet.
C. She got her first experience in shopping on line.
D. Her advertisement on the Internet was not successful.

答案:A
答题依据:第三段,几个关键词unacceptable, accused(谴责), “Get out of here with your ugly goods! Don’t waste people’s time!”, 可判断她受到了攻击。但是还要正确理解第三段中出现的advertising for,这里不是选项D里advertisement“做广告”的意思,而是指“发布、展示出来给大家看。”

This year the marathon in my hometown took place in the hottest month. My job was to follow behind the runners to see if any of them needed medical care.
“We should stay behind the last runner, so take it slowly,”I said to the driver, Bob.
“Let’s hope that the last runner is fast!”He laughed.
Soon the front runners started to disappear, and I saw a woman in a white T-shirt.
“Bob, look!”
We knew we were already watching our“last runner”. She was different from the others because of her age.
“I think she is over 60, too old for any sports match. How can she finish a marathon?”Bob said.
We watched quietly as she slowly moved forward. We would move forward a little, then stop and wait for her. Then we would move a little bit more.
As I watched her try to put one foot in front of the other, I found my heart beating for her. I wanted her to stop, but at the same time, I hoped that she wouldn’t.
Soon she was the only runner that we could see. Tears ran down my face. She was so great! For her, it wasn’t about beating the other runners or winning something;it was about finishing what she had decided to do.
Later in my life, when I think things are too difficult, I will think of the woman—the last runner.
By the way, she did make it to the finishing line that day, when the other runners and the cheering crowds had long gone home.

51. Which of the following is TRUE?

记叙文(学校生活)--理解信息
B
It is well-known that the “prom”, a formal dance held at the end of high school or college, is an important date in every student’s life. What is less well-known is that the word “prom” comes from the verb “to promenade”, which means to walk around, beautifully dressed, in order to attract attention. The idea is that you should see and be seen by others.
The prom is not just an American tradition, though most people believe that it started in America. In Canada the event is called a “formal”. In Britain and Australia the old fashioned word “dance” is more and more frequently being referred to as a “prom”. Most countries have some form of celebration when students finish high school: after all, it means the end of life as a child, and the beginning of life as an adult.
The prom is expensive to organize and the tickets can cost students a lot of money. The tradition is that students themselves have to raise the money to pay for it. Selling the students newspapers is one way to raise money; so is taking a part-time job at the weekend.
Although the prom should be the experience of a lifetime, it also worries many students. There is the problem of what to wear, who to take as your partner, who will be voted “prom queen”, etc. And it is not only students who feel worried. What many parents find difficult is the realization that their children’s school days are almost over. However, for most people at the prom, once the music starts playing, everyone relaxes and stops worrying.

51. Why is the prom important in the students’ lives?
A. It’s the sign of becoming an adult.
B. It’s an old tradition in many countries.
C. There are many problems to work out.
D. The students can raise money by themselves.
答案:A
依据:第二段最后一句after all, it means the end of life as a child, and the beginning of life as an adult.

记叙文(同学友谊)--理解信息

C
When it comes to friends, I desire those who will share my happiness, who has wings of their own and who will fly with me.
When I was in the eighth grade, I had a friend. We were shy and “too serious” about our studies when it was becoming fashionable with our classmates to learn acceptable social behaviors. We said little at school, but she would come to my house and we would sit down with pencils and paper, and one of us would say, “Let’s start with a train whistle(鸣笛)today.” We would sit quietly together and write separate poems or stories that grew out of a train whistle. Then we would read them aloud. At the end of that school year, we, too, were changing into social persons and the stories and poems stopped.
When I lived for a time in London, I had a friend. He was in despair(失望)and I was in despair, too. But our friendship was based on the idea in each of us that we would be sorry later if we did not travel over this great city because we had felt bad at the time. We met every Sunday for five weeks and found many excellent things. We walked until our despairs disappeared and then we parted. We gave London to each other.
For almost four years I have had a great friend whose imagination brightens mine. We write long letters in which we often discover our strangest selves. Each of us appears, sometimes in a funny way, in the other’s dreams. She and I agree that, at certain times, we seem to be parts of the same mind.
It is such comforting companions(陪伴)I wish to keep. One bright hour with their kind is worth more to me than the lifetime services of a psychologist, who will only fill up the healing silence necessary to those darkest moments in which I would rather be with my own best friend.

There is a beach in Fort Bragg, California, which is known for the colourful sea glass. It was a dump (垃圾场) until the 1960s. Glass Beach saw large cleanup projects in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but the glass from bottles and other things remained, worn smooth over time.
Glass Beach is one of Mendocino County’s most popular tourist attractions, as it’s one of the most plentiful sources (来源) of sea glass in the world. But if you want to see this California treasure, go now, because it will likely be gone before we know it.
“Everybody is taking the glass and collecting it, so there’s not as much as there used to be,” said a clerk at Fort Bragg’s tourist information office.
In fact, even though taking away sea glass from the beach is prohibited (禁止), rangers, who look after California State Parks, see people taking the smooth glass pieces home in Ziploc bags all the time. They try to stop people who fill up metal boxes as large as rubbish bins with sea glass, but there’s only so much they can prevent, they say.
The locals will tell you that the beach used to be covered in a foot of sea glass so smooth that you could walk on it with bare feet, but these days glass is difficult to come by on parts of the beach. Many say their only hope is to spread the word about the beach and they ask people to begin minding the signs that say “glass collecting prohibited.”
For many, the destruction (破坏) of Glass Beach is ironic (讽刺的), as it was the human preference for destruction that created the beach in the first place. Without human waste, the beach would never have been present.
For now, Glass Beach remains — and here’s to hoping we humans can keep it that way.
55. The writer of the passage may agree that ______.
A. people should be responsible for the destruction of Glass Beach
B. people should be prohibited from visiting Glass Beach
C. more sea glass should be placed on Glass Beach
D. more signs should be put up on Glass Beach

Johnny went to see his grandparents on their farm, and they gave him a slingshot (弹弓) to play with out in the woods. He was excited and practiced for some time. But he could never hit the target he had set.
Getting a little upset, he headed back for dinner. As he was going back, he saw his grandma’s duck. Without thinking, he let the slingshot fly, hitting the duck in the head and killing it.
In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the woodpile(柴堆), only to see his sister watching! But Sally said nothing. After lunch the next day, Grandma said, “Sally, help me with the dishes.”
But Sally said, “Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.” Then she whispered(耳语) to Johnny, “Remember the duck?” So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to ride horses, and Grandma said, “I’m sorry but I need Sally to help me make supper.”
Sally just smiled and said, “Well, that’s all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help you.” She whispered again, “Remember the duck?”
So Sally went to ride horses and Johnny stayed behind to help make supper. After several days of doing both his chores and Sally’s, Johnny finally couldn’t stand it any more.
He went to his grandma and said that he had killed the duck.
Grandma smiled. “Sweetheart, I know,” said Grandma. “You see, I saw the whole thing at the window that day, but because I love you, I forgave you. I just waited to find out when you would tell me what you did.”
