* When 与 while都表示“当……的时候”:
1）when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是终止性动词，也可以是持续性动词；而while的从句中必须是持续性动词；
2）when中的主、从句中的动作顺序可以是同时，也可以是先后；而while强调主句动作在从句动作的过程中或同时；
eg：When I get home, I put my bag on the sofa.
Please look after my pet dog while I'm in Shanghai.
我在上海期间请照顾我的宠物狗。
*3）when主句是过去进行时，从句一般过去时，while则相反；
*4）主从句动作同时发生，都用过去进行时，则多用while.
