* When 与 while都表示“当……的时候”:
1)when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是终止性动词,也可以是持续性动词;而while的从句中必须是持续性动词;
2)when中的主、从句中的动作顺序可以是同时,也可以是先后;而while强调主句动作在从句动作的过程中或同时;
eg:When I get home, I put my bag on the sofa.
Please look after my pet dog while I'm in Shanghai.
我在上海期间请照顾我的宠物狗。
*3)when主句是过去进行时,从句一般过去时,while则相反;
*4)主从句动作同时发生,都用过去进行时,则多用while.
