take + the/a + 交通工具 + to + sp.

(1) by+交通工具名称。by后的名词一律用单数，而且这一名词前一般不加冠词。
by bike/bus/car/train/plane/air/ship/boat
(2) take + the/a (an) +交通工具
ride a bike/take the bus/take the car/take the train, take a plane/take a boat/ship
(3) on foot步行；走路
take a walk散步；溜达◇ other meanings of take
a. 带走；拿走。指从说话的地方拿到别处，常和介词to, with连用 。take...to...把……带到……，介词to表示方向，后跟地点。
b. 花费(时间)。It takes + sb. + some time + to do sth.做某事花费某人多长时间。
3. the usages of how
(1) how是疑问副词，意为“如何；怎样”，常用来引导特殊疑问句。
How do you go to work?
你是怎样去上班的？
(2) 由how引导的对交通工具方式进行提问的问句，回答有两种形式：
a. take + a/the +交通工具名词
b. by +表示交通工具的单数名词
I take the bus to work./I go to work by bus.

(1) 在美国，subway 表示“地铁”这一地下交通系统或交通手段，常常用 take the/go by subway 来表达“乘坐地铁”。
在英国， the underground表示“地铁” , subways表示“地下通道”
