(1)Students can understand and read Sarah’s diary .
(2) Students can read and match .
(3)Students can write two sentences about the kittens.
Ability aims:
(1). Improve students’ abilities of listening ,reading and speaking.
(2).Encourage students to write down two sentences about their pets and describe it in real situation.
Emotion aims : Encourage students to love the animals and protect them.
Key points :
a. Students can read the 4 diaries.
b. Students can match the sentences with right places.
c. Students can write down two sentences about the two new kittens.
Difficult points:
a.Students can read the 4 diaries with the correct pronunciation and intonation.
b.Students can describe their pets or plants in real situation.

Pictures ,PPT, word cards and some gifts .

Step 1.Pre-reading.
1.Greetings.
2.Review the dates.(Present some pictures. ask and answer .)
T: When is your birthday ?
S1: It’s on September 10th .
T: When is your Mothers birthday ?
S2: It’s on August 15th .
T: What will you do for your Mum ?
S2: ………………

(设计思路:通过对节日的复习巩固了旧知,增强了学生的认知,通过动物图片的呈现既调动了学生大脑中有关动物的词汇,让学生依托话题展开想象,又让学生进一步明确了本课的主题,对进入语篇学习起到了良好的铺垫作用。)
Step 2.while-reading.
T: Sarah has two little kittens , they are so cute .Lets go and have a look .
Read quickly and order the pictures.
2.Read quietly and find the dates.
T: This diary is talking about two new kittens. What are the dates ? Please read quietly and find. ok?
Ss: On April 15th,April 21st, April 26th,May 3rd.
Teacher accords to the answers and write it on the blackboard.
3.Read the first diary carefully and quietly.
T: On April 15th, What are the new kittens like ? What can’t
they do?
S1: The two new kittens are pink , because they are very young.
S2: They can’t see.( According Ss answer and write it on the blackboard.)
(设计思路: 通过以上问题引导学生思考刚出生的小猫会做些什么,长什么样?接着和学生一起归纳出文本结构,这样的支架可以使课堂教学条理更清晰。)
4.Read the second diary carefuly.
T: We know some information about the new kittens on April 15th, How about April 21st ?
According to the mind map , please find the questions and answer them .
a. What are they like on April 21st ?
b. What can they do ?
Answers:
a. They have white fur, they are cute.
b. They can make noises.
4. Read and share in pairs. Try to find the mind map(diary 3 and diary 4.)
(设计思路:通过小组学习更能激发学生积极参与和探究的兴趣。学生也不再感到害怕,在教师搭建好的支架下,学生合作讨论 ,分享经验,期间还能互相练习口语,可以说是达到了事半功倍的作用。)
Step 3. After-reading .
a. Listen and repeat.(Present the 4 diaries on PPT and have students read after it.)
b. Choose the reading star .(Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation )
c. According to the mind map and retell the 4 diaries.
(设计思路:通过听音跟读,让学生感受句子的重音,意群,停顿和连续,培养学生的阅读能力。最后根据图片导出本课内容,锻炼学生的英语表达能力。)
Step 4. Consolidation.
a. Read and match.
b. Write two sentences about the two new kittens.
c. Draw your pets or plants and talk about them .
What are they like ?
What can they do ?
Step 5. Extension .
a. Write down something about your pets or plants.
b. Enjoy the song (Protect the animals.)
(设计思路:通过read and match 等练习,了解学生对语篇掌握情况,通过draw and talk about your pets or plants 增强运用英语的趣味性,通过小练笔来培养学生的简单的写作能力。最后又通过播放歌曲培养学生保护动物,爱护动物,与动物和谐共处的意识。)
Step 5. Homework.
Listen to the tape and read the diaries .
Describe your pets or plants to your parents.
