T greets with Ss “Good morning”.
T: Have you remembered the chant last year? Let’s say the chant together. Then say the first two sentences of this chant to set an example, and play the tempo of this chant.
T shows a picture of many kinds of boOKs and asks: “What are they?”
T: Yes, today we are going to learn School Subjects.
T leads to read the titles.
T shows a picture of the timetable and asks “What’s this?”.
T: What classes do you have today?
T: What’s your favorite class?
T shows the word “Chinese” and T lets two ss read the new words together.
Do you like Chinese?
T: In which class can we sing songs?
T lets Ss listen to the tape and imitate the intonation. T lets ss read the word one by one and pay attention to the pronunciation of the letter “c”.
T: LoOK at me and guess what I am doing? (T is drawing.) What class is it?
T: Good. T lets Ss listen to the recorder and leads to read the word. art--[ɑ:]-arm-larm-tarm
T: Do you like art? Do you like drawing pictures?
T: Please guess what’s my favorite subject?
T: ... is right! When I was a student my favorite subject is English. So I am an English teacher now!
T teaches the word.
T: What can you do in English class? T shows some pictures to help Ss.
T: LoOK at the picture, what are they doing? What class is it?
PE = physical education
T teaches math.
T: What’s this? Do you like computer class?

T leads to read all the new words on the blackboard.
Play the game hide and seek.

Let’s sing a chant. OK? (In order to review all the subjects we learnt today.)

T: Do you like math?
T: I hope you will like it! Can you ask your partners: “Do you like...?” and tell me why you like it! (discuss in groups)
T: OK, now let’s listen what is Yaoyao’s favorite subject.
T shows the timetable again and lets ss put Monday’s timetable into English.
T: I hope all of you like all the subjects because they can enrich your lives and nourish you and they can make your world colorful.
Homework:
1. Put the timetable into English. (翻译课程表)
2. Ask your parents: “Do you like ...?”

Success: T succeed in arousing ss’ interest. Ss are excited about learning the new words by playing games. Most of them can recite the new words in the class. They can use the proper sentences successfully.
Failure: T should give them more time to practice. Some of them can’t sing the chant fluently. T should let ss practice more often.
