Task4.To be a helpful student
Millie is reading Daniel's blog about today's interview with Jenny. But her screen is dirty. Some words are missing. Help her finish it.
Daniel's blog
I had an interview with Jenny today. She told me a lot about the manners in the UK.
Jenny told me that British people usually say“hello” or “nice to meet you” and shake your hand when they meet you for the first time. They only greet relatives or close friends with a kiss. This is different from ours. We Chinese seldom greet others with a kiss. After greeting, British people like to start a coversation with subjects like the weather, holidays, music or books. They avoid talking about age, weight or money.
Daniel's blog
What's more, British people think it is rude to push in before others. They always queue. They say “sorry” if they bump into you in the street. When they want you to move, they say “excuse me”. They do not like to shout or laugh loudly in public.
To my surprise, British people are polite at home too. They say “please” or “thank you” all the time.
What should we do when we are in other countries (a saying 谚语)
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
入乡随俗
Other manners in the UK
