Every festival has its story.
Every story tells us something.
Dragon Boat Festival
Qu Yuan loved his country and felt disappointed with it. So he ended up jumping into the Mi Luo River. The local people who respected him raced out in their boats to save him. They dropped balls of the sticky rice into the river so that the fish would eat them instead of Qu Yuan’ body.
Mid-Autumn Festival
Chang'e flew up to the sky after drinking the magic medicine. Her husband Hou Yi was very sad and missed his wife very much. So he watched the moon at night and wished his wife could come back. After this, people started the tradition of admiring the moon and sharing mooncakes with their families.
Spring Festival
A monster called "Nian” come out to eat people and animals on the eve of every New Year. An old man in red helped the villagers to drive the monster away by pasting red couplets(贴春联)and setting off firework. Next day, the villagers visited each other to share the good news and have a reunion dinner to celebrate it.

Dear Dan,
I’m writing to introduce my favorite Chinese festival to you. As for me, my favorite Chinese festival is the Water Festival of Dai people. It takes place in the lunar mid-April and last for 3-7 days.
On these special days, we clean house and cook nice food. Then, we go on the street to throw water at each other. What a fun way! Everyone get wet, but we are happy, because it’s a time for washing away bad things. We believe we’ll bring good luck in the new year.
All in all, I really enjoy it and I think it’s a good time to spend time with family and share food together. I hope you can be here to have fun with us next time.
