Step 1:Free talk
Ask students to talk about their activities on the weekend. Then ask several students to answer the questions:
What did you do last weekend?
How was your weekend?
What are you going to do next weekend?
Step 2:Look and say
Show some pictures and ask students to talk about them using the simple past tense.
Talk about their activities on the weekend.
Talk about the pictures using the simple past tense.

Step 1:Learn new words
Teach students to read the new words correctly. Show the pictures of the words. Let students understand the meaning of the words. Then make sentences with the words.
Step 2: Fast reading
Ask students to read the passage, Circle the phrases in the passage and guess their meaning.
Step 3:Listen
Let students listen to the tape again and pay attention to the key points of the passage.
Step 4:Careful reading
Read and answer the questions. Then check the answers.
Step 5:Learn about the language points .

课堂小结
本课的重点是复习一般过去时的用法和总结“be going to”的用法。在本课的开始,展示了一些表示各种活动的图片,引导学生用一般过去时将它们表达出来,复习一般过去时的用法,同时进入本课话题,讨论周末活动。本课只有两个生词,课文中的短语也不多,所以新知讲授的环节比较简短,而重点是训练学生用一般过去时和“be going to”句型表达自己的活动和计划。所以本课安排了大量看图说话和对话练习的环节,让学生进一步巩固学生对两种时态的掌握和运用。
