All around the world parents tell their children fairy tales. The stories are exciting (令人激动的) and children enjoy listening to them again and again. In the stories, animals often speak and sometimes people become animals. The stories usually begin(开始) with “Once upon a time….”

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Nuwa. Her father was Emperor(皇帝) Yan and he loved his daughter. They lived in a palace(宫殿). They played in the garden and were very happy. One day, Nuwa decided to go to the sea in the boat but the weather was very bad and soon the boat was in pieces . Nuwa fell into the water. She tried to swim but she died. Then Nuwa changed into a bird called Jinwei and returned home to see her father. The Emperor cried because Nuwa died. He watched the bird and he was unhappy. Finally, the bird decided to return to the sea and tried to fill the sea with stones.

Two days later, the army came into the village to ask people to be soldiers. When they saw that
