Many Americans like running. Early in the morning, at noon, or in the evening, in big cities or in the countryside, all over the United States, you can see Americans running-men and women, the young and the old. People run everywhere-down quiet streets in towns or at the gym. Some people even run in their living rooms.
However, running wasn't so popular in the past. In the 1960s, few people ran, and most of them were athletes(运动员)and healthy strong people. When people saw a runner, they used to ask, "Hey, what's the hurry?" or they might say to themselves, "Is he crazy?" At that time, women hardly ran. If they did sometimes, others might laugh at them. But today all these have changed. Men and women of all ages enjoy running.
Doctors say many of the health problems come from bad habits like eating too much, smoking a lot or taking little exercise. They often tell us to eat less and exercise more. Students often want to practise their English outside class. One of the best ways of practising your English is to speak to foreigners. Many students may ask, "Is it OK to talk to foreigners when we meet them in the street?"
The answer is yes or no, but probably no! If you see a foreigner who looks lost, it is polite to ask him or her, "May I help you?" But, if not, you should probably not break in on his or her getting down to business, that is to say, you can talk to a foreigner at proper times and places. Feel free to ask him or her questions if a foreigner comes into your school, classroom, or your teachers' office.
It's also OK to talk to foreigners in some public places. When you see a foreigner alone in a restaurant, a waiting room, or a shop, it may be the right time for you to start small talk with him or her, like "Is this seat free?" You can probably help them feel more welcome.
In a word, it's a pleasure to talk to foreigners if you choose the right time and place.

Last year, I did not like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. The teacher spoke very quickly and I couldn't understand her most of the time. I was afraid to ask questions because I didn't know how to read the words correctly. I just hid behind my textbook and never said anything in class.
Then one day I watched an English movie-Toy Story. I fell in love with this exciting and funny movie. So I began to watch other English movies, too. Although I could not understand everything the characters(角色)said, their body language and the expressions(表情)helped me get the meaning. I understood I could get the meaning by listening for just the keywords. I found that listening to something interesting is the secret to language learning. I also learned some useful expressions like "It's a piece of cake" or "It serves you right". I did not understand these at first. But because I wanted to understand the story, I looked them up in the dictionary.
Now I really enjoy my English class. Do you want to learn English in this way?
