Hawking is considered by many to be the greatest scientist in history since Albert Einstein. He educated the world with his knowledge that the universe(宇宙) began with the Big Bang(大爆炸) and will end in black holes. His studies are of great help for later researches. But THIS didn’t stop him from living a meaningful and colorful life. “If one is physically disabled, he cannot afford to be disabled in mind as well,” he once said.
Hawking traveled the world to attend different science meetings, visiting many places. Including Antarctica(南极洲) .He was also a fan of pop culture and appeared on TV shows such as Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory.
He celebrated his 60th birthday by going up in a hot-air balloon; when he was 65, he took part in a special flight to experience weightlessness just like in space. He hoped to travel into pace one day.
“At first, I fell it was very unfair why should this happen to me,” Hawking wrote in his book. “But now, 50 years later, I can be quietly with my life.” Now, the great scientist may no longer be with us, but he will continue to live in our hearts now and in the future. My parents are amazing. I had the most wonderful childhood, and it’s not because I had everything I wanted or because I was a cool kid. I have learned a lot about how to be a parent. Here are a few treasures that I use now with my two children.
Here is an example of how I had a conversation with my parents when I was young. Usually it was around 4:30 p.m. I said, “I’m hungry. Can I have some chocolate?” My mom answered, “No. Have a banana.” “I don’t want a banana.” “Then you’re not hungry.” Sometimes I was angry about it, but I knew that was good for me. Thanks mom for not letting me eat junk food. Now I agree with my mother and I have this same conversation with my three-year-old son. I hope it helps him to develop healthy eating habits.
I know many of us heard this as children. “If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you do it, too?” If our kids asked for something just because everyone else had it or was doing it, I will ask them this question. And they soon learned not to ask for things because everyone else had it, but because it was something we wanted.
I will always be thankful that my parents let us try the things that interested us, not the things
they wanted to push us into. This helped me try swimming, dance, and the piano before second grade. I found a love — singing — and kept up with that through my college years. Now, I am a teacher and mother. It drives me crazy to see parents push their kids into their own favorite activities, even when their children don’t like them.

A.she had whatever she wanted B. her parents taught her in the right way
C. there were many cool kids in the family D. her parents loved her so much

C.the example of “jumping off the bridge” D.some examples of other parents

A.the children must do what their parents want them to do
B.singing is a good hobby for children, especially girls
C.the children must do what is useful to society(社会)
D.the children can try the things that they are interested in
55.The best title of the passage may be “ ”.
A.Treasures from my parents B. Good eating habits
C. How to choose a hobby for children D. Teaching children is not easy

If you’re thinking about reaching for another biscuit to get yourself through the school day, think again. Eating unhealthy snacks at your desk makes you put on much weight a year, a survey has shown.
A report into British eating habits found that most of them eat at least two snacks a day, with 30 percent having three or more. Women often eat more than men, and some women even have three or four snacks a day. The research also found biscuits are the most common choice and 42 percent usually have some biscuits, closely followed by chocolate (38 percent), crisps (32 percent)
and cakes (13 percent).
However, the survey of 2000 British men and women suggests they know about their unhealthy eating. Most of them have weight problems, and even some health problems caused by being overweight. Unfortunately, it’s as if they are not likely to do much to deal with this habit.
Back to China, students, especially those under much pressure, are likely to deal with their pressure with some snacks. Usually, cakes and biscuits brought into the classroom by other students are the most popular food between classes.
What’s worse about the eating situation in school is about students’ meals. An expert says, “We know some students want to make full use of their time and cut the time for meals, but we were shocked by the food they have.” Many of them just choose the food they can easily get---
instant noodles(方便面), chocolate, cakes and biscuits which are high in calories(卡路里), fat,
salt and full of sugar, instead of those full of nutrition(营养). Experts have always been trying to help students get out of this habit.
