一、本单元教学内容划分及目标达成分析:
第一课时:Listen and say, Look and Learn
第二课时:Read a story
第三课时:Ask and answer, Think and write, Culture Corner
节日是学生在小学阶段一个非常熟悉也非常喜爱的话题,本单元没有新的语言知识点,主要是通过话题在语言运用和词汇上进行巩固、拓展,深入了解中国传统节日文化并用简单的英语进行表达,特别是中国的一些比较重要的传统节日,如:春节the Spring Festival,中秋节the Mid-Autumn Festival,重阳节(敬老节)the Double Ninth Festival,能更多地运用英语进行文化介绍和交流。
第一课时在Listen and say设定的语言环境(the Spring Festival)中唤醒学生的旧知识储备,在旧知的复现中巩固已有词汇和句型,然后通过拓展Look and Learn中其它中国传统节日进行进一步的强化,同时也为第二课时能深入谈论这些传统节日的背景及相关知识做好铺垫。
第二课时为阅读教学,结合小课题“小学英语故事教学中开放性问题设计的探索”和“习本教学”课题研究进行,通过微课和课前习单,学生对词汇进行了预学,有了初步的印象和了解,本教学设计重点就文本的再构、针对故事内容给学生预设开放性问题,从而拓宽学生的英语思维,提高语言表达能力,使阅读教学源于文本又高于文本,最后通过文本达到抛砖引玉的效应,促使学生对感兴趣的节日进行深层次的挖掘,从而提高英语综合能力,也为第三课时的会话和写作打下基础。
第三课时着重在设定的不同语言环境下进行有关中国传统节日的相关信息谈论,除了Time, Weather, Activities,还可以让学生发散思维进行更全面的有关节日讨论,然后在会话的基础上进行写作能力的强化,使学生的英语综合能力得到更有效的提升,最后通过对比,了解认识中西方节日的异同。
二、本课时教学重难点:
1.能在语境中运用故事中的核心词汇:festival, important, end, village, last, at the end of…
2.通过五要素进行故事阅读,巩固并拓展语言知识,了解中国传统节日的来源,能运用简单的英语进行相关的介绍;
3.突破文本限制,对文本有关内容再构,设置开放性问题进行阅读能力的升华。

四、教学过程 :
A. Warming up
Greet each other and duty report.
B. Revision
1. Talk with the students about their favorite festivals.
2. Show pictures and go over the names of Chinese festivals they know. The last one will be the Spring Festival. ( Lead to the story of Nian.)
C. Presentation
Scene 1:
1. Show a picture of people running in a village by PPT and guide to the beginning of the story.
T: What are the people doing? / Why are they so scared?
2. Present the monster “Nian” and try the students to introduce “Nian” themselves like this:
Hello, I’m… I live in … I have … I can … I like…
3. Play the recording of the first part of the story. Try the class to follow.
4. Role-play the first scene.
Scene 2:
1. Teacher asks the student a question: If you meet “Nian”, what will you do ? Then show Picture 2. Present the wise old man.
2. Talk about what Nian is afraid of (color red, fire, loud noise ).List what they can do to scare Nian by following the old man’s ideas:
1) What will you do by using color red?
2) What can you do by fire?
3) What can you do by making loud noise?
3. Play the recording of the second part of the story. Try the class to follow.
4. Practice the dialogue between the old man and the villagers in pairs.
Scene 3:
1. Listen to what will happen at the end of that day.
2. Read and act.
Scene 4:
1. Try the students to give the ending of the story: Do you think “Nian” will come again?
2. Play the recording of the ending of the story. Try the class to follow.
3. Now the Spring Festival is a time for family to get together and be happy. Sing the song “Happy New Year”.
D. Practice and consolidation
1. Retell the story.
2. Ask the students a question: Nowadays, we don’t light firecrackers or fireworks in the city at the Spring Festival. Do you know why? ( Carry out environmental education. )
3. Order the story ( Finish WB ex. on P77.)
4. Read the whole story again.
5. Role-play the story in groups. Then try some to act it out.
6. Share more information about festivals they like ( Pre-task on the exercise sheet).
E. Summary and homework assignment
1. Sum up the key words and how to read a story.
2. Assign homework:
① Read Student’s Book P 76 and 77 and retell the story of Nian.
② Find a story about another Chinese festival. Try to get the key points in it. Share your story in groups next time.
