1. short hair短发(教材第49页)
(1)shot形容词,意为“短的;矮的”。
① short作“短的”讲时,可以指距离、时间、物体的“短”,反义词是long(长的)。
这把尺 子短,但是那把长。
This ruler is short. but hat one is long.
② short作“矮的”讲时,可以指人的个子矮,反义词是tal(高的)。
他是一个身材矮小的人。
He is a short man.
(2)hair此处用作不可数名词,意为“毛发;头发”
她留着长发。
She has long hair.
他是一个光头的矮胖男人。
He is a short fat man with no hair on his head.
2. straight hair直发(教材第49页)
straight形容词,意为“直的”,可用来形容头发,也可形容其他事物,常作定语或表语。
用尺子画一条直线。
Draw a straight line with a ruler.
这条街道是笔直的.
The street is straight.
[拓展] straight t可用作副词,意为“直接地;径直地”。
我得直接回家。
I have to go straight home.
3. tall高的(教材第49页)
tall形容词,意为“高的”,既可以指人的身高,也可以表示物体高大。
她是个高个儿女孩。
She is a tall girl.
他住在一幢高楼里。
He lives in a tall building.
注意:high与tall形容建筑物“高”时可以互换,但形容 mountain(山)时,只能用 high.

4. medium height中等身高(教材第49页)
(1) mediun形容词,意为“中等的”。
这是一件中号外衣。
This is a coat of medium size.
他穿什么尺码,小号、中号还是大号?
What size does he wear, small, medium or large?
中号。Medium.
[拓展]我们在购买衣服时,常常看到衣服上有L、M,S的标志。其中L表示“大号”,是 large的缩略形式;M表示“中号”,是 medium的缩略形式;S表示“小号”,是 small 的缩略形式。
(2) height为形容词high的名词形式,意为“身高;高度”。询问某人的身高或某物的高度是多少时,常用what,而不用 how much或 how many

[拓展] height可与介词in连用,常用于描述某人或某物有多高的句子中,其结构为“Sb./Sth+be+数字+ meter(s) in height”,此时, in height相当于形容词tall

“ What does/do+主语+look like?”用来询问某人的外貌特征,意思是“…长什么样?”,两种方式回答
“主语+be+描述人物外貌特征的形容词”
“主语+have/has+名词(名词前可以有多个形容词修饰)”

他又矮又瘦。

他们长什么样?

他们个儿很高,留着短的直发。

辨析:look like与 be like
两者都有“看起来像”的意思,其区别如下:
look like常指人的外观或外貌
他长得像他父亲。
He looks like his father.
be like常指人的性格、品质
他是个什么样的人?
what is he like?
他非常友好。
-He is very friendly.
6. She's of medium height, and she has long straight hair她中等身高,留着长长的直发。(教材第49页)
(1)此句是用来描述人的外貌的常用句型。表示某人中等身高或中等身材时,其结构为“Sb+be of medium height/build
我的语文老师中等身高。
My Chinese teacher is of medium height.
(2)表示“某人长着或留着…发”时用have/has,其结构为“Sb.+have/has+.hair”。
我妈妈留着长发。
My mother has long hair.
