the story with the help
information in the table above. During an English exam, Brian felt somebody was watching him a little too closely. He turned and saw James who whished to copy Brian’s answers.
But Brian was not sure whether he was joking or not. Brian returned to his test and leaned a little more closely towards his paper. As a result, James couldn’t see the answer. Brain curled his arm around his answer, struggling in his mind. Brian tapped the top of his desk to find an easy way out of this matter. Finally, Brian did what he thought was right and guarded the answers. After
the exam, Brian apologized and explained why he did so in the exam and offered to help James in the next test. To the relief of Brian, James understood why Brian did so and promised to study hard for the next test.Read the diary again carefully and
answer the following questions.
1) How do you understand “It is a simple rule, but it’s not a rule everybody chooses to follow.”?
The rule “Keep your eyes on your own paper” is easy to understand, but not everybody can follow the rule strictly.2) What’s your understanding of the sentence “I hope you studied for this test!”?
It shows that James hoped that Brian had prepared for the test so that he could copy Brian’s answers.3) Who said the following two sentences: “He’s your friend, and what are friends for ” and “You know it’s wrong.”? What do they suggest?
These two sentences are both said by Brian who said to himself in his mind. The sentences show that Brian really didn’t know what to do at that moment. He didn’t want to destroy the friendship; meanwhile he didn’t want to break the rule.4) Brian said, “Cheating went against my beliefs.” What are his beliefs? Find facts from the text to support your answer.
