本课时的核心话题为“talk about what they used to be like”,主要谈论自己和他人过去经常做的事以及自己和他人过去的情况,如外貌、性格、爱好等。学习句型used to为本课时的主要学习任务。本课时设置了任务型语言实践活动,让学生在交际活动中,学会如何正确地用英语表达自己的意见和建议,重在培养学生的语言运用能力、实践能力、合作能力及创新意识。
在学习本课时之前,学生已经学习过一些描写人物外貌的词汇和句型,因此,大部分学生已经有了一定的学习基础,但由于学生自觉性差,很少能够自觉做好课前预习和课后复习,所以课前给些时间让他们熟悉本课时的内容是很有必要的。

used to的句式变化:

写作时注意引导学生结合课文内容,借鉴教学语篇,引导学生整理信息,做好写作前准备。在写作过程中,要做好点评和示范的工作。一些学生在写作时由于粗心而造成一些错误,要及时指出并让其修改。
