动词-ing形式作表语、定语和宾语补足语一、动词-ing形式作表语(predicative)
1. 动词-ing形式作表语,表示抽象的一般性的行为,用来说明主语的内容,与主语是同一概念,此时主语和表语常可互换位置。如:
My job is teaching you English.我的职业是教你们英语。
= Teaching you English is my job.
Ex. 我的爱好是游泳。——————————
=____________________

2. 动词-ing形式作表语,用来说明主语的特征或性质,这时常可以看做一个形容词,常译为“令人……的”。如:
My job is interesting .
The news is shocking.
此类词语有:exciting, disappointing, encouraging, puzzling, confusing, amusing, amazing, charming, astonishing, discouraging,moving等。可以用very修饰。
区分:何时用-ed结尾的过去分词呢?如excited.

1. 动词-ing形式作定语,用来说明被修饰名词的用途 。如:

a reading room= a room used for reading 阅览室
a waking stick = a stick used for walking 拐杖

a sleeping bag= ___________________ 睡袋
a swimming pool=_________________ 游泳池
a smoking room=__________________ 吸烟室

2. 动词-ing形式作定语,表主动进行。表示所修饰词语的动作或状态 。此时,相当于一个定语从句。如:

如果ing短语作定语时,放在所修饰的词语后,如:
the boy standing behind the tree
那个(正在)站在树后面的男孩
= the boy ___________

2. 动词-ing形式作定语,表示所修饰词语的动作或状态 。此时,相当于一个定语从句。如:

试分析下面第二句的转换是否正确:

= The man coming here yesterday will give us a lecture.

1. 动词-ing形式作宾语补足语时,与宾语之间为逻辑上的主谓关系,即宾语是其所修饰词语的逻辑主语。如:
We saw many boys playing soccer over there.
2.此用法常用于以下两类动词后做宾语补足语。Vt+sb./sth. +doing
感官动词
see, hear, feel ,smell, watch, find, listen to,
look at, notice, observe, catch(碰巧发现)等。
b. 使役动词
have,set, keep, leave, get 等。动词-ing形式作表语、定语和宾语补足语三、动词-ing形式作宾语补足语(object complment)
3. 区分 此类动词的用法
vt.+ sb. doing sth. vt. + sb. do sth.
例如 see sb. do/ doing
试试翻译下面 的句子:
I saw a boy getting on a bus. ( 表动作正在进行)___________
I saw a boy get on a bus. (表动作完成了)_________
