Tips
on
How
to
Survive
the
Exam
Season
My
first
tip
is
to
prepare
yourself
for
revision.
During
the
term,
you
must
have
gone
to
the
lectures
and
taken
a
lot
of
notes.
These
are
the
first
steps
in
learning.
Now,
at
the
end
of
the
term,
gather
all
the
notes
you
took
and
run
through
them
quickly.
While
doing
this,
keep
asking
yourself,
“Do
I
understand
what
I
am
reading ”
If
yes,
great.
If
not,
you
have
to
spend
some
time
understanding
them
before
the
exams
take
place.
My
second
tip
is
to
plan
different
types
of
revision
in
order
to
study
more
efficiently.
Even
if
you
are
interested,
everyone
gets
bored
after
a
couple
of
hours
of
studying.
Something
that
really
helps
is
to
plan
different
types
of
activities
while
revising.
You
can
switch
between
study
and
exercise
so
you
won’t
get
bored
and
it’s
easier
to
study
for
a
longer
period
of
time.
One
thing
that
can
really
help
you
to
memorize
your
study
materials
more
easily
is
to
make
the
facts
more
related.
There
are
many
different
ways
to
do
so.
I’m
going
to
give
you
two
examples
and
the
first
one
is
to
create
pictures
in
your
mind
while
studying.
This
can
be
really
helpful
for
studying
history,
for
example.
The
second
method,
especially
for
learning
new
words:
Try
to
make
yourself
familiar
with
new
words
by
looking
for
the
ones
that
look
alike.
21.
According
to
Paragraph
1,
what
prepares
you
for
revision
A.
Going
to
lectures.
B.
Taking
notes.
C.
Understanding
notes.
D.
Gathering
notes.
22.
While
revising,
what
are
you
advised
to
do
after
reading
notes
for
hours
A.
Go
on
reading.
B.
Go
to
sleep.
C.
Listen
to
music.
D.
Do
some
exercise.
23.
Connecting
the
events
in
history
can
help
_____
.
A.
understand
them
correctly
B.
make
revising
more
interesting
C.
stop
us
from
getting
bored
D.
remember
them
more
easily
24.Who
is
the
text
written
for
A.
Headmasters.
B.
Teachers.
C.
Students.
D.
Workers.
B
Samuel
Osmond
is
a
19-year-old
law
student
from
Cornwall,
England.
He
never
studied
the
piano.
However,
he
can
play
very
difficult
musical
pieces
by
musicians
such
as
Chopin
and
Beethoven
just
a
few
minutes
after
he
hears
them.
He
learns
a
piece
of
music
by
listening
to
it
in
parts.
Then
he
thinks
about
the
notes
in
his
head.
Two
years
ago,
he
played
his
first
piece
Moonlight
Sonata
by
Beethoven.
He
surprised
everyone
around
him.
Amazed
that
he
remembered
this
long
and
difficult
piece
of
music
and
played
it
perfectly,
his
teachers
say
Samuel
is
unbelievable
.They
say
his
ability
is
very
rare,
but
Samuel
doesn’t
even
realize
that
what
he
can
do
is
special.
Samuel
wanted
to
become
a
lawyer
as
it
was
the
wish
of
his
parents,
but
music
teachers
told
him
he
should
study
music
instead.
Now,
he
studies
law
and
music.
Samuel
can’t
understand
why
everyone
is
so
surprised.
“I
grew
up
with
music.
My
mother
played
the
piano
and
my
father
played
the
guitar.
About
two
years
ago,
I
suddenly
decided
to
start
playing
the
piano,
without
being
able
to
read
music
and
without
having
any
lessons.
It
comes
easily
to
me
---I
hear
the
notes
and
can
bear
them
in
mind---each
and
every
note,”
says
Samuel.
Recently,
Samuel
performed
a
piece
during
a
special
event
at
his
college.
The
piece
had
more
than
a
thousand
notes.
The
audience
was
impressed
by
his
amazing
performance.
He
is
now
learning
a
piece
that
is
so
difficult
that
many
professional
pianists
can’t
play
it.
Samuel
says
confidently,”
It’s
all
about
super
memory---I
guess
I
have
that
gift.”
However,
Samuel’s
ability
to
remember
things
doesn’t
stop
with
music.
His
family
says
that
even
when
he
was
a
young
boy,
Samuel
heard
someone
read
a
story,
and
then
he
could
retell
the
story
word
for
word.
Samuel
is
still
only
a
teenager.
He
doesn’t
know
what
he
wants
to
do
in
the
future.
For
now,
he
is
just
happy
to
play
beautiful
music
and
continue
his
studies.
25.
What
is
special
about
Samuel
Osmond
A.
He
has
a
gift
for
writing
music.
B.
He
can
write
down
the
note
he
hears.
C.
He
is
a
top
student
at
the
law
school.
D.
He
can
play
the
musical
piece
he
hears.
26.
What
can
we
learn
from
Paragraph
2
A.
Samuel
chose
law
against
the
wish
of
his
parents.
B.
Samuel
planned
to
be
a
lawyer
rather
than
a
musician.
C.
Samuel
thinks
of
himself
as
a
man
of
great
musical
ability.
D.
Samuel
studies
law
and
music
on
the
advice
of
his
teachers.
27.
Everyone
around
Samuel
was
surprised
because
he
_________.
A.
received
a
good
early
education
in
music
B.
played
the
guitar
and
the
piano
perfectly
C.
could
play
the
piano
without
reading
music
D.
could
play
the
guitar
better
than
his
father
28.
What
can
we
infer
about
Samuel
in
Paragraph
4
A.
He
became
famous
during
a
special
event
at
his
college.
B.
He
is
proud
of
his
ability
to
remember
things
accurately.
C.
He
plays
the
piano
better
than
many
professional
pianists.
D.
He
impressed
the
audience
by
playing
all
the
musical
pieces.
C
On
this
program
we
explore
common
expressions
in
American
English.
Today,
we
talk
about
expressions
that
began
behind
the
wheels
of
automobiles.
Now
they
are
common
expressions
that
we
use
in
everyday
conversations.
Well,
let’s
not
delay
any
longer.
Let’s
get
this
show
on
the
road!
“To
get
the
show
on
the
road”
means
to
begin
something
as
soon
as
possible.
It’s
a
casual
expression
that
we
use
when
we
want
to
start
something,
anything
–
an
activity
or
project
or
an
actual
road
trip.
Well,
not
any
activity.
You
would
not
likely
use
this
expression
to
begin
something
sad,
such
as
a
funeral.
It
is
a
lighthearted
expression.
So,
the
person
who
says
“hey,
let’s
get
this
show
on
the
road!”
is
taking
charge.
They
want
to
start
things.
They
want
to
get
things
going.
You
could
say
they
are
in
the
driver’s
seat.
Just
as
the
driver
is
in
control
of
their
vehicle,
the
person
in
the
driver’s
seat
of
an
activity,
event
or
project
is
also
in
control.
Feel
free
to
use
this
phrase
in
any
situation,
formal
or
informal.
Speaking
of
free,
most
rides
are
not.
They
cost
money.
When
you
take
a
taxi
you
must
pay
for
it.
If
you
drive
a
car,
you
must
pay
for
gas,
repairs
and
insurance.
It
is
great
when
you
get
a
free
ride
to
where
you
are
going.
However,
in
life,
to
get
a
free
ride
means
to
gain
from
something
without
having
to
do
anything
in
exchange.
It
can
be
annoying
to
have
a
friend
or
co-worker
who
is
always
trying
to
get
a
free
ride.
They
do
not
give.
They
just
take,
take,
take!
Now,
when
we
are
actually
driving,
the
phrase
go
down
that
road
simply
means
to
drive
down
a
road.
We
would
say
this
when
we
give
directions.
“Go
down
that
road
for
about
a
mile
and
you’ll
see
your
destination
on
the
right.”
But
in
conversations,
it
has
an
interesting
meaning.
To
go
down
that
road
means
to
make
a
decision.
But
it’s
more
than
that.
It
also
means
that
this
decision
may
bring
trouble
or
leave
you
in
a
difficult
place.
We
often
use
this
phrase
as
a
warning.
29.
The
underlined
word
“lighthearted”
in
Paragraph
4
has
the
closest
meaning
to
A.
relaxing
B.
warm-hearted
C.
bright
D.
formal
30.
What
can
we
learn
from
the
passage
A.
“To
get
this
show
on
the
road”
can
be
used
to
start
anything.
B.
Someone
who
likes
getting
a
free
ride
is
always
welcome.
C.
We
can
use
“go
down
that
road”
as
an
encouragement.
D.
The
person
“in
the
driver’s
seat”
is
the
one
in
charge.
31.
What
do
the
four
expressions
have
in
common
A.
They
can
all
be
used
at
any
situation.
B.
They
are
all
used
to
talk
about
someone
else.
C.
They
all
have
something
to
do
with
transport.
D.
They
are
not
used
when
we’re
actually
travelling.
32.
Where
probably
is
the
text
from
A.
A
guide
book.
B.
A
TV
program.
C.
A
newspaper.
D.
A
travel
journal.
D
We
humans
spend
about
one-third
of
our
lives
asleep.
This
may
sound
like
a
lot
of
time,
but
it
is
not
wasted.
Sleep
not
only
helps
us
stay
healthy,
but
it
also
helps
our
brains
remember.
Our
brains
need
good
sleep
to
remember
what
we
do
and
learn
during
the
other
two
thirds
of
our
lives
when
we
are
awake.
Researchers
at
the
University
of
Wisconsin-Madison
have
found
that
sleep
helps
improve
brain
performance
by
shrinking
(收缩)
synapses
in
the
brain.
A
synapse
is
the
area
where
cells
pass
messages
to
other
cells.
Scientist
Chiara
Cirelli
is
a
leading
investigator
at
the
school’s
Center
for
Sleep
and
Consciousness.
She
told
the
reporter
that
sleep
is
when
the
human
brain
mixes
information
it
has
learned
while
awake
into
its
general
collection
of
knowledge.
Meanwhile,
the
brain
forgets
unimportant
details.
This
forgetting
is
important.
It
makes
space
for
new
learning
and
new
memories.
Cirelli
said
that
the
Center's
research
began
with
this
hypothesis
(假设):
We
sleep
so
that
our
brain
can
repair
and
refresh
itself.
She
said
the
idea
seems
simple
and
reasonable.
However,
testing
and
discovering
how
it
works
has
been
extremely
difficult.
Synapses
are
only
about
20-40
nanometers
wide.
The
team
began
their
study
by
measuring
the
size
of
the
synapses
to
look
for
changes
in
these
already
tiny
spaces
between
nerve
cells.
Cirelli
said
the
process
is
difficult
because
“all
the
actual
measurements
of
the
synapses
have
to
be
done
by
hand.”
The
team
had
to
wait
until
improvements
in
laboratory
technology
made
it
possible
to
see
these
tiny
changes.
A
University
of
Wisconsin
press
release
called
the
research
a
"huge
job."
Many
research
specialists
worked
for
four
years
to
photograph,
rebuild
and
study
certain
areas
of
a
mouse
brain.
Cirelli
said
they
found
that
our
synapses
shrink
as
our
brains
clean
themselves
during
sleep.
We
wake
up
refreshed
and
ready
to
fill
those
synapses
with
new
information.
33.
How
does
brain
help
improve
our
memory
while
sleeping
A.
By
adding
new
knowledge
to
its
old
collection.
B.
By
not
forgetting
any
learnt
knowledge.
C.
By
repeating
information
learnt
before.
D.
By
keeping
learning
new
information.
34.
What
is
the
5th
paragraph
mainly
about
A.
The
size
of
the
synapses.
B.
The
time
of
the
measuring
work.
C.
The
results
of
the
measuring
work.
D.
The
difficulties
in
the
measuring
work.
35.
What
can
we
infer
about
the
research
work
A.
The
findings
proved
their
hypothesis
to
be
right.
B.
The
team
began
their
research
as
soon
as
they
decided
to.
C.
The
synapses
were
found
bigger
after
a
good
night’s
sleep.
D.
The
researchers
carried
out
their
work
with
a
mouse
brain.
36.
Which
of
the
following
can
be
the
best
title
for
the
text
A.
Sleep
helps
the
brain
shrink.
B.

Many
teenagers
may
have
a
very
confusing
time
filled
with
anxiety
in
high
school.
Here
are
some
powerful
tips
which
can
help
you
succeed
in
the
years.
37
You
may
be
faced
with
too
many
choices
in
your
life
and
it’s
unwise
to
try
everything.
Just
focus
on
your
favorite.
Consider
all
the
benefits
that
it
brings
into
your
life
and
then
see
how
you
can
develop
your
passion
into
a
possible
career
option.
Get
away
from
the
friends
that
offer
poisonous
advice
and
negativity.
There
is
no
place
for
that
kind
of
behavior
at
any
stage
of
your
life.
And
you
should
value
yourself
highly
enough
to
get
rid
of
these
people.
38
Read
as
much
as
you
can.
Pick
up
a
book
on
anything
that
expands
your
knowledge
base.
Stop
spending
hours
in
watching
your
favorite
TV
shows.
39
You’ll
notice
in
a
few
days
how
you
begin
to
see
things
in
a
different
light.
Limit
the
time
spent
on
social
media.
I
am
19
years
old,
so
I
understand
just
how
much
time
can
be
wasted
on
technology,
especially
the
Internet
and
cellphones.
40
Instead
once
you
spend
that
time
enriching
yourself,
your
life
begins
to
shape
and
turn
into
exactly
what
you
want
it
to
be.
Make
mistakes.
Look
at
a
mistake
you’ve
made
from
every
possible
angle
and
take
the
lessons
from
it.
41
You
can’t
achieve
this
by
trying
to
be
perfect
all
the
time.
It’s
okay
to
make
mistakes.
A.
Get
ready
to
try
different
things.
B.
Know
yourself
and
pick
a
direction.
C.
Instead
use
that
time
to
invest
in
yourself
by
reading.
D.
Spend
less
time
doing
things
that
add
no
value
to
your
life.
E.
This
does
wonders
for
self-confidence
and
overall
positivity.
F.
Your
teenage
years
are
meant
to
be
spent
getting
to
know
yourself.
G.
It’s
important
for
you
to
work
hard
to
improve
your
scores
in
your
study.

阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
I
had
just
started
my
second
year
studying
at
Cambridge
University
when
I
was
faced
with
the
news
I
had
never
expected.
A
lump
in
my
neck
turned
out
to
be
cancer.
I
would
42
six
months
of
chemotherapy(化疗).
After
the
shock,
I
was
struck
by
this
thought:
my
43
didn’t
have
any
room
for
cancer.
I
had
so
much
I
wanted
to
achieve
and
so
many
goals
I
wanted
to
chase.
I
was
faced
with
the
44
job
of
telling
my
friends
and
family.
Then,
I
had
to
decide
whether
to
45
in
Cambridge
and
take
five
exams
at
the
end
of
the
year.
My
doctor
advised
against
it,
and
so
did
my
parents
and
teachers.
My
doctors
and
teachers
convinced
me
that
taking
some
time
off
to
46
and
relax
would
be
the
best
thing
for
me.
I
could
not
think
of
anything
47 .
I
did
not
want
to
48
a
year
of
my
life,
receiving
pity
from
those
around
me.
Together
with
my
parents,
I
tried
to
persuade
the
university
to
49
me
to
stay
at
Cambridge
and
study
only
half
the
course.
At
the
end
of
the
year
I
would
take
two
exams.
It
was
really
a
50
to
persuade
them
to
agree.
Treatment
began
and
I
was
up
and
down
from
Cambridge
to
London
every
other
week.
It
made
me
feel
51 ,but
to
a
much
lesser
degree
than
I
had
expected.
I
was
able
to
read,
eat
and
socialize
exactly
as
I
used
to.
I
slept
a
lot
and
rested
a
lot,
but
I
also
worked
hard
at
my
studies.
It
gave
me
focus,
and
it
also
gave
me
purpose.
Completing
my
52
at
the
end
of
the
term
felt
like
a
great
personal
victory.
I
took
a
53
to
continue
studying
while
undergoing
treatment,
and
it
54 .
I
was
successful
in
my
exams
—
and
more
55 ,
I
made
a
full
recovery.
Every
person
facing
a
disease
like
cancer
must
make
the
56
that
are
right
for
them.
I
am
proud
that
I
made
the
decision
that
was
right
for
me.

第二节
(共10小题,每小题1.5分,满分15分)
阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。
Have
you
ever
been
57
(embarrass)
because
of
forgetting
something
important.
Most
people
have.
And,
what
is
worse,
most
people
have
58
(resign)themselves
to
a
life
to
forgetting.
They
are
unaware
of
a
simple
but
important
fact
59
memory
can
be
developed.
If
you
just
accept
that
fact,
this
book
will
show
you
how.
First,
relax.
If
you
are
overanxious
about
remembering
something,
you
will
forget
it.
Relaxing
is
very
necessary,
60
will
enhance
your
awareness
and
ability
to
concentrate.
Take
deep
breaths
and
tell
61
(your)
that
you
have
all
the
time
in
the
world
to
remember
Second,
avoid
62
(negative).
If
you
keep
telling
yourself
that
memory
is
bad,
your
mind
will
come
to
believe
it.
Actually
negative
jokes
can
also
have
a
terrible
63
(affect)
on
you
and
your
memory.
To
improve
your
memory,
you’ll
need
to
take
an
active
role.
Like
your
body,
your
memory
can
64
(strength)
through
exercise.
Look
for
opportunities
to
exercise
you
memory.
For
example,
if
you
are
learning
a
language,
try
to
actively
remember
irregular
65
(verb).
You
may
also
want
to
make
associations,
or
links,
between
what
you
are
trying
to
remember
66
things
you
already
know.

第二节概要写作
满分25分
In
our
modern
world,
when
something
wears
out,
we
throw
it
away
and
buy
a
new
one.
The
problem
is
that
countries
around
the
world
have
growing
mountains
of
rubbish
because
peopleare
throwing
out
more
rubbish
than
ever
before.
How
did
we
become
a
throwaway
society
First
of
all,
it
is
now
easier
to
replace
an
object
than
to
spend
time
and
money
to
repair
it.
Tnanks
to
modern
manufacturing
(制造业)
and
technology,
companies
are
able
to
produce
products
quickly
and
inexpensively.
Products
are
plentiful
and
cheap
.
Another
cause
is
our
love
of
disposable
(一次性的)
products.As
busy
people,we
are
always
looking
for
ways
to
save
time
and
make
our
lives
easier.
Companies
produce
thousands
of
different
kinds
of
disposable
products:
paper
plates,
plastic
cups,
and
cameras,
to
name
a
few.
Our
appetite
for
new
products
also
contributes
to
the
problem.
We
are
addicted
to
buying
new
things.
Advertisements
persuade
us
that
newer
is
better
and
that
we
will
be
happier
with
the
latest
products.
The
result
is
that
we
throw
away
useful
possessions
to
make
room
for
new
ones.
All
around
the
world,
we
can
see
the
consequences
of
this
throwaway
lifestyle.
Mountains
of
rubbish
just
keep
getting
bigger.
To
decrease
the
amount
of
rubbish
and
to
protect
the
environment
,
more
governments
are
requiring
people
to
recycle
materials.
However
,
this
is
not
enough
to
solve
(解决)
our
problem.
Maybe
there
is
another
way
out.
We
need
to
repair
our
possessions
instead
of
throwing
them
away.
We
also
need
to
rethink
our
attitudes
about
repairing.
Repairing
our
possessions
and
changing
our
spending
habits
may
be
the
best
way
to
reduce
the
amount
of
rubbish
and
take
care
of
our
environment.

第1节,

With
more
things
thrown
away,
there
is
an
increasing
amount
of
rubbishworldwide.
Some
factors
may
accountfor
this
phenomenon.
Firstly,
compared
to
repairing,
substitutiong
an
item
is
easier
due
to
abundant
and
cheap
goods
avaiable.
Secondly,
our
performance
for
disposable
and
new
products
also
worsens
the
problem.
The
solution
lies
in
recycling
easter,
fixing
broken
objects.
But
more
importantly,
we
should
change
our
consuming
habits.
