Amy: Where did you
go?
Claire: We went to the American Art Museum. Paul fell in love with the sculptures . We spent hours on the work of Alexander Calder.Unit 8 Crazy about Alexander Calder爱上Notes on the textspent hours on ——spend 意为“花费时间(金钱)”,常与介词on连用。
spend的用法:
spend sth on sth
e.g: I spent $100 on the bike.
spend sth(in) doing sth
e.g: They spent three month touring EuropePaul: You liked it as well!
Claire: Yes, I did! I loved his jewellery !
Paul: They are lovely things. They look very simple , but they are not simple at all.Unit 8 Crazy about Alexander Calderas well,
too, 也珠宝首饰adv.根本;
Claire: The shapes are strong , and the colors are very soft ……
Paul : Anyway …… his hanging sculptures were the best for me!
Unit 8 Crazy about Alexander Calder
Paul: There was one huge one, called ‘Big Red’.
It was made of triangular pieces, like feathers. The pieces were made of aluminium . They looked heavy, and they were light!
Unit 8 Crazy about Alexander Calder
in fact.Notes on the textThere was one huge one ,called ‘Big Red’——第一个one是数
“hanging sculpture”。
be made of,用…
Paul: We blew on one little disc, and the whole thing moved.
Claire: Yeah, that was cool! All the pieces moved around , like a native Indian headdressUnit 8 Crazy about Alexander Calder旋转[blu:] ,
Notes on the text the whole thing ___whole表示“整个的”,后面接名词的单数
形式。
All the pieces __all
e.g: all the money/a whole roast duck
e.g: three whole days / all three days
e.g: the whole of China/ all China Homework 1.
