Lesson 14 Jenny's School Life
教学目标:
1.掌握单词:middle, grade, print, guitar, fair
短语:homeroom teacher, shop class, social studies, in groups, on one’s own, have a science fair, take part in, etc.
2.掌握和运用关于学校生活的句型:
There are 400 students in my school.
My favourite subject in school is shop.
We often make different things in shop class.
Shop is always fun!
In social studies, we do a lot of projects.
Sometimes we work in groups.
Today, my group and I worked on a map of Canada.
But sometimes we play on our own.
This year, we will have a science fair at my school.
I want to take part in the fair with my project on silk worms.

教学思路:
本课时的教学内容是冀教版七年级英语下册第三单元的第二课时,重点在于引导学生理解语境,从表示学校生活的词开始,自然地导入谈论学校课程的话题。以描述詹妮在加拿大埃德蒙顿的学校生活作为任务引起学生的听说兴趣,训练学生的听力和口语表达能力。利用动作、手势和图片学习英语单词,同时在文章中反复运用新学的单词和短语。因此,教师可以将知识目标定为掌握本课时新出现的词和短语,介绍詹妮在加拿大埃德蒙顿的学校生活的句型。情感目标定为通过话题的学习,培养学生的学习习惯和兴趣,使学生能够用英语描述詹妮在加拿大埃德蒙顿的学校生活、学习科目和课外活动。

Leading in 【情景1】
Group work:Ask the students to talk about the following questions:
(1)What do you think of your school life?
(2)What school life do you like better?
After a few minutes, ask the groups to make a report in front of the class.
Group 1:Most of my group members think our school life is boring.There is too much homework to do.We don’t have much time to do what we like.We can only listen to music or watch TV on weekends.We feel tired.We want to have more interesting classes.We want to have more time to do sports, to listen to music or dance.What’s your favourite school life?
[设计意图] 小组合作,了解学生们对现在的学校生活的感受,学生们想要什么样的学校生活,学生们理想中的学校生活是什么样的,小组合作有利于每个人都有机会发言。
Leading in 【情景2】
Teacher shows pictures of Jenny’s school life to the students.Ask them the following questions:
T:What are the students doing in the picture?
S:They are making things.
T:What’s in their hands?
S1:It’s clay.
T:Yes.You are right.Are they having fun?
S:Yes.
T:Why?
S2:Because they can make many things on their own.
T:What can they do in social studies?
S3:They can do a lot of projects.
T:How do they work?
S4:Sometimes they work in groups.Sometimes they work on their own.

[设计意图] 观察图片,用英语提问关于詹妮在加拿大埃德蒙顿学校的相关问题,有利于同学们对其有一个更加清晰、完整的思路。这样做会降低学习难度,学生会感觉今天的新内容学起来很容易。
StepⅡ.Presentation
1.Lead the students to learn the new words and expressions.Ask them to make sentences with the new words and expressions.
T:Where does ×× sit?

2.Work in pairs.Try to make dialogues with the new words, expressions and patterns:middle, grade, print, guitar, fair, homeroom teacher, shop class, social studies, in groups, on one’s own, have a science fair, take part in.Then ask some pairs to act them out.
S5:Do you have shop class?
S6:Yes, we do.
S5:What do you do in shop class?
S6:We often make many things.We print our own T-shirts.

[设计意图] 领同学们读会单词很重要,然后创设情景,使同学们身临其境,适当练习。在练习中巩固本课需要掌握的单词、短语和句型。
Step Ⅲ.Listening
1.Listen to the text and answer the following questions:

in groups意为“小组合作”。

  play the guitar意为“弹吉他”。play在表示“弹奏”时为及物动词,在表示乐器的名词前要加定冠词the;play在表示“踢、打(球)”时也是及物动词,表示球类的名词前不加任何冠词。

1.Retell the story.Work in groups.Show some pictures of Jenny’s activities at school.Ask the students to retell the text.Choose the best groups and praise them.
2.Work in groups.Ask the students to say something about their school life.After a few minutes, ask some groups to make reports in front of the class.
3.Work in groups:Ask the students to make sentences with the language points.Teacher knows whether the students understand the language points from their sentences.
[设计意图] 让同学们重述课文内容,并且和自己的学校生活对比,并且每组做一个报告,小组合作练习帮助学生丰富了相应的知识。培养学生运用目标语言进行交际的能力。用知识点造句可以暴露出学生没有掌握扎实的知识点。
Step Ⅵ.Complete Let’s Do It!
We have finished Exercise 2 in reading part.Ask the students to finish Exercise 1 and Exercise 3 by themselves.Then check the answers in class.
[设计意图] Let’s Do It!部分中的Exercise 2我们在阅读部分已经完成了。Exercise 1是考查对课文的掌握程度。Exercise 3考查学生们对本课单词的实际运用能力。
Step Ⅵ.Task:Come to Exercise 4
Work in pairs.What’s your favourite subject? What do you do in that class? Talk about it.
Example:

Give the students enough time to finish the task.To finish the task, the students have to use the frequency adverbs:always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, never…
