教学目标:
1.掌握单词:letter, exactly, fact, sentence, quick, lazy, even, dig
短语:in fact, in the English language, dig in, etc.
2.掌握和运用关于英语单词的构成的句型:
There are only 26 letters in English.
So English is an easy language to learn, right?
Yes, English only has 26 letters, but those 26 letters can make a lot of words.
In fact, there are about 800 000 words in the English language.
One letter like “a”, can be an English word.
And just one word, like “Go” can be a sentence.
There is an English word with about 1 900 letters in it.
You can read it forwards or backwards—it’s the same word!
The word“therein” has ten words in it.
Dig in and enjoy!

教学思路:
本课时的教学内容是冀教版七年级英语下册第五单元的第三课时,重点在于引导学生谈论英语单词的构成,从“英语字母”开始,自然地导入谈论英语单词的构成的话题。以描述趣味单词作为任务引起学生的兴趣,训练学生的听力和口语表达能力。利用动作、手势和图片学习英语单词,同时反复运用新学的单词和短语。因此,教师可以将知识目标定为掌握本课时新出现的词和短语,掌握一般现在时和祈使句句型。情感目标定为通过话题的学习,能用已经学习的词汇,谈论英语单词的构成情况。让学生们了解英语语言的特色,增进学生们对于外国语言的了解。
教学准备:
设计教学PPT,录音机,多媒体,相应的插图,表示一些活动的实物、图片和单词卡片。
教学过程:
StepⅠ.Lead in
Leading in 【情景1】
Show some interesting English words to the students.Ask them to observe and find out the rules.Point to the pictures.Ask the students questions:
T:How many letters are there in English?
S1:26.
T:How many English words are there?
S2:About 800 000.
T:Do you know the longest word?
S3:Sorry,I don’t know.
T:Let’s see this word. It has about 1 900 letters in it.
S4:It’s amazing.
T:Look at this sentence:The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.How many words does the sentence have?
S5:It has 26 letters.

[设计意图] 本课内容和英语单词的构成有关,故以“看图画,说一说”的形式,熟悉有趣的英语单词的构成,发现英语学习的乐趣,并活跃课堂气氛。同时引入在之后学习中会使用到的词汇、短语和句型。
Leading in 【情景2】
Work in groups.Ask the students to talk about the ways to learn English.They may talk about the following questions:
(1)What do you think of English?
(2)Is it hard or difficult to learn English?
(3)How do you remember English words?
(4)What English words do you think are interesting?

After a few minutes, ask the groups to give a speech in front of the class.
[设计意图] 根据学生们的亲身经历,谈论学生们见过的有趣的单词,同学们充分调动学过的知识,有利于活跃气氛,引入学习英语单词的话题。
StepⅡ.Presentation
1.Teacher should teach the new words and phrases in this part:letter, exactly, fact, sentence, quick, lazy, even, dig, in fact, in the English language, dig in.Teacher leads the students to learn the new words and phrases.Teacher can use the pictures.
T:How many English letters did we learn?
S6:26.
T:Now read after me “letter”.
S:Letter.
T:Now look at the picture.John is quick.He runs quickly.Is Mike quick, too?
S7:Yes, he is.
T:Now read after me “quick”.
S:Quick.

2.The students work in pairs.Try to make sentences with the new words and expressions.
T:Now let’s try to make more sentences with the words and expressions in pairs.
S8:How can I learn English well? If you are lazy, you can’t learn English well.
S9:You can read more English books.
S8:Must I know every word exactly?
S9:No, you needn’t.In fact, you can guess the meaning.
S8:I know if I’m lazy, I can’t learn anything.
S9:You’re right.You must work hard.

[设计意图] 先让学生们学会新的单词和短语,然后用对话的形式让同学们练习它们。有利于同学们充分利用自己的时间来练习,让所有的同学都有兴趣参与课堂活动。
Step Ⅲ.Listening
1.Listen to the passage and finish Exercise 1 in Let’s Do It.
Listen and write true(T) or false(F).

The students should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

1.Teacher asks the class to read aloud and answer the following questions.

1.Amazing English?
【辨析】 amazing,amazed
(1)amazing用作形容词,意为“令人惊讶的”,指物。
This is amazing news.这是令人惊讶的消息。
(2)amazed用作形容词,意为“感到惊讶的”,指人。
He is amazed at the high building.
他对这个高大的建筑物感到惊讶。
2.Well, not exactly.?
exactly意为“精确地;确切地;正好”。 not exactly意为“并非如此;不完全是”。
He doesn’t exactly know how to work out the problem.他并不确切地知道怎么解决这个问题。
【拓展】 exact用作形容词,意为“精确的”。

3.In fact, there are about 800 000 words in the English language.?
in fact可作状语或表语 ,可单独使用,既可用于书面语也可用于口语中。
In fact, the earth is nearer to the sun during the winter.在冬天,地球离太阳实际上还要近一些。
No one believed it, but in fact, Mary passed her exam.尽管没有人相信,但实际上玛丽确实考试及格了。
4.One letter like“a”, can be an English word.?
like用作介词,like前一般情况下要有be,翻译成“像……”。
The baby is like his mother.
= The baby looks like his mother.
这个婴儿长得像他妈妈。
【拓展】 有关like的重要短语及句型:
(1) look like (=look the same)看起来像。
Lily looks like Lucy.
=Lily and Lucy look the same.

5.This sentence uses all 26 letters.?
use用作动词,意为“使用”。use sth.to do sth.= use sth.for doing sth.把某物用于做某事。
I use knives to cut apples.我用刀子切苹果。
【拓展】 use还可以用作名词,意为“用处,应用”。in use意为“在使用中”,come into use意为“开始被使用”。
The schoolbag is in use.这个书包在使用中。

StepⅤ.Practice
1.Ask the students to read the text.Choose the best students to praise them.
2.Ask the students to make sentences with the words, expressions and drills of the text.
3.Design more questions and ask the students to answer them.

(3)Can you understand English movies easily?

Exercise 1 is listening part.Ask the students to listen to the tape and finish it.Ask the students to finish Exercise 2 and Exercise 3 by themselves.Teacher checks their answers in class.
