This summer,I am going to play baseball for the Tigers.
“Tigers” is the name of my team.
Baseball is my favourite sport.
My team and I will usually practice in the morning.
And some evenings, we will play just for fun.
On weekends, we will often play against other teams.
My family and friends will come and watch me play.
They’ll all sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and they’ll buy snacks and pop at the game.
Baseball is a fun sport for everyone.

教学思路:
本课时的教学内容是冀教版七年级英语下册第八单元的第三课时,重点在于引导学生谈论美国的棒球运动,从“棒球”开始,自然地导入谈论棒球的话题。以描述棒球运动作为任务引起学生的兴趣,训练学生的听力和口语表达能力。利用动作、手势和图片学习英语单词,同时反复运用新学的单词和短语。因此,教师可以将知识目标定为掌握本课时新出现的词和短语,掌握一般将来时的句型。情感目标定为通过话题的学习,能用已经学习的词汇谈论美国的棒球运动。让学生们了解棒球运动的特点,增进学生们对于外国的体育活动的了解。
教学准备:
设计教学PPT,录音机,多媒体,相应的插图,表示一些活动的实物、图片和单词卡片。
教学过程:
StepⅠ.Lead in
Leading in 【情景1】
Show some pictures of baseball to the students.Ask them to observe and find out the rules of baseball.Point to the pictures.Ask the students questions:
T:What are they doing?
S1:They are playing baseball.
T:What do you know about baseball?
S2:It began in the U.K.
S3:It’s a team ball game
S4:Each team has at least nine players.
S5:It is popular in the U.S.and Japan.
S6:It was played at the Olympics in 1992.
S7:Alexander Joy Cartwright is the father of baseball.He is from America.

[设计意图] 本课内容和棒球运动有关,故以“看图画,说一说”的形式,熟悉有趣的棒球运动,了解棒球运动的规则,并活跃课堂气氛。同时引入在之后学习中会使用到的词汇、短语和句型。
Leading in 【情景2】
Work in groups.Ask the students to search the Internet and find something about baseball.They may talk about the following questions:
(1)Where did it begin?
(2)How many players does a team have?
(3)Is it an Olympic event?
(4)What do people do when they watch the baseball game?

After a few minutes, ask the groups to give a speech in front of the class.
Group 1:Baseball began in the U.K.But later it became popular in the U.S.Many people like playing baseball in the summer.It became an Olympic event in 1992.Each team has at least nine players.They play against other teams.Their family and friends will come and watch them play.They’ll sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and they’ll buy snacks and pop at the game.Baseball is a fun sport for everyone!
[设计意图] 学生们根据在网上搜到的信息,谈论自己对棒球的所见所闻,同学们充分调动查到的信息和学过的知识来描述自己的经历,有利于活跃气氛,引入棒球的话题。
StepⅡ.Presentation
1.Teacher should teach the new words and phrases in this part:baseball, pop, if, ever, shame, play against, the name of, play against, take…out, root for….Teacher leads the students to learn the new words and phrases.Teacher can use the pictures.
T:Can you play baseball?
S1:Sorry,I can’t.
T:Now read after me“baseball”.
S:Baseball.
T:What’s this in the picture?
S:It’s a can of pop.
T:Now read after me“pop”.
S:Pop.

2.The students work in pairs.Try to make sentences with the new words and expressions.
T:Now let’s try to make more sentences with the words and expressions in pairs.
S1:Look!What is the name of this sport?
S2:It’s baseball.
S1:What are the teams doing?
S2:They are playing against each other.
S1:Can I take my brother out to watch the game?
S2:Of course.
S1:Can I eat some snacks when I watch the game?
S2:Sure.You can eat and drink something you like.
S1:Can we take photos there?
S2:I think you can.

[设计意图] 先让学生们学会新的单词和短语,然后用对话的形式让同学们练习。有利于同学们充分利用自己的时间来练习,让所有的同学都有兴趣参与课堂活动。
Step Ⅲ.Listening
1.Listen to the text and fill in the blanks.

1.Teacher asks the class to read aloud and finish Exercise 1 in Let’s Do It.

Read the text first, then ask at least 3 questions.After a while, you can ask anyone in your class to answer your questions.

watch动词,意为“观看”。watch sb.do sth.意为“观看某人做某事”,强调看见全过程。

她经常看她女儿跳舞。
【拓展】 watch sb.doing sth.意为“看见某人正在做某事”,强调看见的动作正在进行。
I watched a girl dancing in the park.
我看到一个女孩正在公园里跳舞。
3.“Take Me Out to the Ball Game”?
take sb.out to意为“把某人带出去”。
My dad will take my sister and me out to the park.爸爸将要带我妹妹和我去公园。
  【拓展】 take组成的其他短语:
(1)take off意为“脱下;起飞”。
He took off his coat and had a rest.
他脱下外套去休息。
When will the plane to London take off?
去伦敦的飞机什么时候起飞?
(2)take up意为“占用”。
Playing basketball will take up your much time.打篮球将会占用你太多的时间。
4.If they don’t win, it’s a shame,…?
if意为“如果”,引导条件状语从句。主句用一般将来时,从句用一般现在时。
I will call you if he comes back.
如果他回来我会给你打电话的。
【拓展】 if引导的从句用一般现在时,主句除了用一般将来时,还可以用包含情态动词的句子或者祈使句。
If it doesn’t rain, we can go climbing.
如果天不下雨,我们能去爬山。
If it is late, don’t go out alone.
如果天晚了,不要独自出去。
[设计意图] 读文章,找出问题的答案,设计这样的阅读题有助于学生理解文章细节。
Step Ⅴ.Practice
1.Retell the story.Ask some students to retell the story in front of the class.
2.Ask the students to read the text.Choose the best student to praise him/her.
3.Writing practice:Work in groups.Ask the students to write a passage about their favourite sports.
4.Ask the students to make sentences with the words, expressions and drills of the text.
[设计意图] 重述课文内容有助于学生理解文章细节。写作练习可以使同学们把学到的知识运用到实际生活中,用知识点造句检查学生们对单词、短语和知识点的掌握能力。
Step Ⅵ.Come to “Let’s Do It!”
Exercise 1 is reading part.We have finished it in class.Exercise 2 is listening part.Ask the students to finish it in class.Ask the students to finish Exercise 3 by themselves.Teacher checks their answers in class.
