教学目标:
1.了解有关日记的写法。
2.了解一些介绍植物生长的句型:I gave it plenty of water.Soon,it grew a stem and a leaf.It will open up and turn into a flower.
3.总结英语单词的构词法。
重点难点:
1.正确使用一些与植物生长有关的词:seed,sprout,grow,open,head,turn
2.正确运用所学知识介绍植物生长的情况。
3.掌握以下重点句子:Agriculture is all about growing plants and raising animals for food.To learn more about plants,we planted some seeds.It will open up and turn into a flower.I’ll send some seeds to Li Ming.
教学思路:
本课时的教学内容是冀教版八年级下册英语第二单元的第六课时,主要涉及植物生长的介绍。在授课之前先让学生通过网络介绍或者找园艺师了解植物生长的具体过程。课上可以通过让学生小组合作的形式进行相互交流:然后教师通过幻灯片、图片向学生展示植物生长的过程,并让学生用英语加以描述。学一学种花,学一学园艺,热爱生活,热爱大自然。
教学准备:
设计教学PPT,录音机,多媒体,图片和单词卡片。
教学过程:
StepⅠ.Lead in
Leading in 【情景1】
T:Hello,boys and girls.What’s agriculture?
S1:Corn.
S2:Plants.
S3:Flowers.
T:What kind of plants do you want to grow?
S4:Flowers.
T:Why do you want to grow them?
S5:Beautiful.
T:What kind of plants does Danny grow?
S6:…
Discuss the questions in groups.The teacher shows some pictures about Danny’s plant.Ask the students to talk for three minutes.Then let them present their talk in class.
[设计意图] 利用学生学过的内容,从询问喜欢种植什么植物开始,轻松进入语境,进而介绍生词,图片的使用使学习更加形象直观,自然地进入谈论植物生长的新话题。
Leading in 【情景2】
Greet the class.
T:Hello! Boys and girls!
Ss:Hello! Mr./Ms.XX.
Ask the students to introduce the agriculture in class.
S1:Plant trees.
S2:Grow flowers.
S3:Plant corn.
Show the new word “agriculture” and show the picture of agriculture to the students.
T:Do you know how to grow a plant?
S4:Sorry,I don’t know.
S5:Plant some seeds.
S6:Give some water.
[设计意图] 运用学生所学的知识,从谈论熟悉的入手进入新内容的学习,运用实物或图片帮助学生学习生词,直观、感性、形象。

If some students feel the diary is too long,the teacher can divide it into two or three parts.Then ask them to read them in groups.
(1)Agriculture is all about growing plants and raising animals for food.
(2)Now,something new is growing at the top of the stem.
(3)I’m going to look after my plant carefully.
Please pay attention to the long words:agriculture,carefully.

After listening to the diary,get the class to read it aloud.
Ss read aloud.Then practice the diary.Focus on the stressed words,pronunciation and intonation.

1.Agriculture is all about growing plants and raising animals for food.?
raise是及物动词,意思是“饲养”。
My mother raised many fishes.
我妈妈养了许多鱼。
【拓展】 raise 的其他含义:
(1)举起;提起。
Raise your hand! 举起手来!
(2)增加;提高。
He raised the price of the food.
他提高了食物的价格。
(3)提起;提出。
She raised a good idea.
她提出一个好主意。
(4)种植;培育。
We raised many flowers.
我们种植了一些花。
(5)抚育;抚养。
She has to raise her baby by herself.
她不得不独自养育孩子。
(6)筹集;募捐。
He raised money for homeless people.
他为无家的人捐钱。
2.Now,something new is growing at the top of the stem.?
something是不定代词,意思是“某事;某物”,与其相似的还有somebody,anything,anybody,everything,everybody,nothing,nobody等。主要用法:
(1)不定代词作主语时,常被看作单数第三人称,所以谓语动词也是单数形式。
There’s something wrong with my watch.
我的手表有些毛病。
(2)形容词修饰不定代词时,放在后面,叫作后置定语。
  I want to have something delicious.
我想吃好吃的东西。
(3)动词不定式修饰不定代词时,也要放在后面。
She has something interesting to tell you.
她有一些有趣的事告诉你。
3.I’m going to look after my plant carefully.?
look after意思是“照顾;照料”,相当于 take care of。后面接的宾语既可以是人,也可以是物。after 在这里是介词, 后面可接名词或者代词。
She could look after herself.
=She could take care of herself.
她能够照顾自己。
【拓展】 含有look 的短语有:
(1)look up查阅。
You should learn to look up the dictionary.你应该懂的查字典。
(2)look down on轻视。
We shouldn’t look down on the deaf.
我们不应该看不起聋哑人。
(3)look around环顾四周。
She is looking around the park.
她在公园里四处看看。
(4)look for寻找。
He is looking for his keys.
他正在找他的钥匙。
(5)look like看起来像。
She looks like her mother.
她看起来像她的妈妈。
(6)look over仔细检查。
You must look over your paper.
你一定要仔细检查你的试卷。
[设计意图] 学生通过阅读课文,了解重点内容,并且通过提出问题、回答问题来巩固对课文的理解和掌握;反复朗读课文,根据课文内容填空。

Ask the students to read the diary and answer the questions in No.1 and fill in the blanks in No.2 by themselves.
[设计意图] Let’s Do It! 部分中的No.1重点是阅读训练教学,针对课文进行训练。No.2训练文中出现的植物常识,让学生对植物有细致深刻的了解。

Ask students in groups to come to the front of the classroom,and they can present their ideas about plants.
[设计意图] No.4的重点是实践练习,同学们通过小组合作来完成练习。以“现实中我们吃植物的什么部分”为话题,提供了一个语境完整、内容丰富的话题,自然呈现本单元的核心句型,为学生进一步输出语言提供了口语示范。

语法精讲
构词法——转化词、派生词
(一)转化词
转化词:英语中,由一种词性转化成为另一种词性叫词类的转化。常见的有名词转化为动词,动词转化为名词,形容词转化为动词。
1.名词转化为动词
water 水→water浇水 plant 植物→plant种植
2.形容词转化为动词
cool 凉爽的→cool使凉爽 dry 干燥的→dry使变干,弄干
(二)派生词
派生词:在词干前后加词缀而构成的新词,称为派生词。加在词干前面的为前缀,后面的为后缀。
1.后缀
(1)构成名词的后缀常用的有:-er,-or,-ist,-ness,-ment,-tion,-ress 等。例如:dancer 舞蹈家;inventor 发明家;scientist科学家;artist画家; government政府;actress 女演员。
(2)构成形容词的后缀常用的有:-ful,-less,-able,-ous,-y 等。例如:helpful有用的;cloudy 多云的;enjoyable令人愉快的; dangerous危险的; careless 粗心的。
2.前缀
前缀一般不造成词类的转变,而只引起意思上的变化,前缀中有相当一部分可构成反义词,常用的有un-,dis-,im-等。例如:unhappy不高兴的;dislike不喜欢;impossible 不可能的。
