Step 1 Lead in
Check the students’ homework.?
1.Have a dictation about the new words and expressions of 1a-2d.?

Step 2 Reading (3a—3b)?
1.3a. T:Just now you talked about your trouble in study. Now please read the article about Wei Fen’s problems in study. And find the answers to the following questions.
Q1:Why did Wei Fen find it difficult to learn English??
Q2:What did she do in English class??
Q3:What is the secret to language learning? ?
Make the students understand the meanings of the questions, then let them read the article in 3a and find the answers to the questions.?
A1:Because she didn’t understand what the teacher said. And she was afraid to ask questions because of her poor pronunciation.?
A2:She just hid behind her textbook and never said anything.?
A3:The secret of language learning is listening to something interesting.?
2.3b. Ask the students to read the sentences in 3b firstly, and read the article again very carefully. Complete the sentences individually, using the words and phrases from the passage. Check the answers together.?

【find用法归纳】
find sb. doing sth. 发现某人做某事
find it + adj. + to do sth. 发现做某事很……
find it + adj. to do sth.中的it是形式宾语, adj.做宾补, to do sth.是真正的宾语。同类的动词还有think, feel, consider等。

a piece of cake和serves sb. right是英语中的两个习惯用语, 也可称作习语idiom(s)。同汉语中的成语类似, 习语是人们在长期的语言运用中约定俗成的一种固定表达方式, 其意思往往不是字面所表达的含义。
如: a piece of cake表示事情非常简单、易于解决, 相当于汉语的“小菜一碟; 小事一桩”; serves sb. right则相当于汉语说某人“活该”。

Ask the students to read the questions and answers in the grammar box. Show the questions and answers on PPT and circle the word with -ing in each sentence. Point out the four phrases that start with by and end with -ing word. Tell students that when they should use the structure.?
Then ask the students to do the pair work to practice the questions and answers in the grammar box.?
Step 2 Practice (4a-4c) ?
1.Ask the students to read questions and answers in 4a. Make sure they can understand the meaning of each sentence. Then let the students match the questions and answers.?
2.Ask the students to complete 4b individually. Then check the answers in pairs or in groups. Ask some students to present their sentences to the class.?
3.Ask the students to interview their partners to complete the table in 4c. Then ask some pairs to present their conversations to the class.?

T:You have read and checked the statements true for you. Now make a list of other things difficult for you, too.?

Step 3 Listening (1c-1d)?

本句的动词不定式短语to practice English with作名词partner的后置定语,从逻辑上讲,partner作with的宾语,可理解为to practice English with a partner, 其结构为“to do ?sth.?+介词+名词”。应注意的是此结构中的名词在句中成为谓语动词的宾语,而不定式短语成为该短语的后置定语时,句尾的介词不能省略。?

Step 1 Review
Ask the students to check their homework in groups. And they should correct their mistakes individually. Then the best article in each group can be presented to the class.
Step 2 Reading (2a-2e)?
1.T:You have developed some good learning habits by yourself. Now please discuss with your partner.?
Ask students to read the passage in 2b quickly (about one minute). Which four habits of successful learners can you find from the passage??
The students read the passage as quickly as they can and find out the answers.?

unless conj.“除非,如果不”;unless是从属连词,引导条件状语从句,含有否定意义,相当于if条件状语从句的否定形式。所以unless=if not。?
【注意】unless引导的条件状语从句和if条件状语从句,与其他时间状语从句一样,用一般现在时代替将来时。?

Step 1 Lead in
The teacher leads in the new lesson by greeting:?

Today we'll learn Unit 1 How can we become good learners? Learning how to learn is very important. And learning how to pass a test is also very important for you.
There will be an English test this Friday morning. Can you tell me how you study for a test??
Then show some pictures on PPT and help the students talk about them and learn to say "by+doing" phrases like by working with friends, by making word cards, by reading the textbook, by listening to tapes, by asking the teacher for help, etc.?
Step 2 Practice (1a-1c)?
1.1a. Ask the students to complete 1a(add other ways they sometimes study), individually first, then check their answers together.?
2.1b. Play the recording for the students to listen and complete 1b. Play it again if necessary, then check the answers together.?
3.1c. The teacher asks two students to read the conversation in 1c to the class. Then ask them to do the pair work to make other conversations. After that some pairs should be asked to present their conversations to the class.?
Step 3 Listening (2a-2b)?
1.Ask the students to read the questions in 2a. Make sure they can understand the meaning of each question. Then the students listen and check the questions they hear. Play the recording 2 or 3 times if necessary, then check the answers.?
2.The students read the sentence in 2b individually. Then listen and match each answer with a question in 2b. They should be allowed enough time to complete it.?
Step 4 Pair work (2c)?
Ask two or three pairs to read the model conversation to the class. Then ask the students to do the pair work to make their own conversations using the information in 2a and 2b.?
Model: A: Have you ever studied with a group??
B: Yes, I have. I have learned a lot that way.?
Then pick several pairs to present their conversations to the class.?
Step 5 Role play the conversation (2d)?
1.T:Jack is talking about his sudden problem with Annie. What are his problems? What suggestions does Annie give him??
Let the students read the conversation individually and find the answers:?
Jack has to finish reading a book and give a report, but he is a very slow reader.?
The suggestions that Annie gives him: read quickly to get the main idea at first/read word groups/try to guess a word's meaning by reading the sentences before and after it/read something interesting every day...
2.Play the recording for the students to listen to and repeat the conversation. Ask students to pay more attention to the pronunciation and intonation.?
3.Let the students read the conversation in pairs and find out some useful expressions and language points. Then let them talk about the useful expressions and language points in groups . After that the teacher should emphasize something important and difficult.?
4.In pairs, give the students 5~10 minutes to prepare to role play the conversation. Then ask some pairs to act it out to the class.?

大声朗读来练习发音怎么样?
辨析aloud, loud和loudly
aloud出声地;大声地。常与read/ call等词连用, 不用于比较级。
e.g. Don’t read aloud in the library. 不要在图书馆大声朗读。
loud 大声地;喧闹地。指说话声和笑声,常与talk/ speak/ laugh/ sing等词连用, 常用比较级。
e.g. We can’t hear you. Please speak louder.
我们听不到你的声音。请再大声点。
loudly 高声地;喧闹地。可以和loud互换,含有“吵闹”的意思,不悦耳。
What about/ How about…?
后跟名词,代词或v.-ing。用于征求意见。
e.g. What about a cup of tea? 喝杯茶怎么样?
How about you? 你呢?
What /How about going to the zoo this afternoon?
今天下午去动物园怎么样?
3. It’s too hard to understand spoken English.
句中的it是形式主语, 不定式短语to understand spoken English是真正的主语。该句句型为: It’s+too+adj.+ (for sb.)+to do sth. 意思是“(对某人来说)做某事是……的”。如:
It’s too important to keep healthy.
It’s difficult for him to learn two languages.
【链接】
too ... to ... 结构常表示“太……而不能……”, too后面接形容词或副词, to后面接动词原形。如:
The room is too dirty to live in.
He walks too slowly to get there on time.
【运用】
将下面的句子翻译成英语。
1) 孩子们在那条河里游泳是危险的。
