Lesson 3 Getting to know you
本课是第一单元的第三课时,学生在课前预习的基础上,学习介绍某人的方法。重点是表达喜好和讨厌的交际用语。对课文的教学主要通过听说读写等方式,一个环节一个环节地展开训练,掌握本课中的知识要点,开展调查活动,制作表格。

Step Ⅰ. Lead in
Leading in 【情景1】
How do you get to know a new friend? Tell something about yourself in pairs.

[设计意图] 为学生创设情景,在认识新朋友时,怎样开始交谈,说些什么话题,鼓励学生运用学过的单词、句子描述自己的爱好。
Leading in 【情景2】
Do you like watching TV? I like some programs very much. For example, “Talking Straight” and “The Voice of China”. Do you like them? The project you are going to do is to interview each other. You can ask your classmates many questions just like the hosts or hostesses do in the TV programs, such as Bai Yansong, Hua Shao and so on. Of course, you have to use English! But it’s fun! I’m sure you will like it.
[设计意图] 用一些电视节目和主持人的话题导入,用学生比较熟悉的内容,引导他们做采访的活动,激发学生学习的兴趣,增强学生学习的动力,并让学生小组讨论,自由表达自己的观点,努力为学生提供“开口说英语”的机会。
Step Ⅱ. Learn to read the words
1. The students manage to read the words by themselves and mark the difficult words. Especially read the difficult words in groups.
2. Get one or two middle-level students to read all the words. Ask the good students to correct the wrong pronunciations. If necessary, the teacher corrects them.
3. Read after the tape.
4. Read aloud and the teacher walks around to see whether the students have any questions.
[设计意图] 该步骤能有效培养学生个人识读单词的学习习惯,能培养学生自学、探究和合作学习的能力。
Step Ⅲ. Listening
1. Play the audiotape for Lesson 3 (Getting to Know You!). Play it once and ask the students just to listen.
2. Play the audiotape a second time and ask the students to answer the question: Who does Danny want to interview?
[设计意图] 本环节的听力训练只让学生对所听内容有所了解, 对学生听的要求不高, 学生可以轻轻松松地完成任务。
Step Ⅳ. Reading
1. After the students read the text fast and silently, let the students discuss the following questions:
(1) Why is Danny a little nervous?
(2) Do you think Danny and Sandra will become good friends? Why?
【Keys】 (1) Because he wants to talk to Sandra.
(2) Yes, they will become good friends. Because they have a nice talk.
2. The students should check and correct their answers in groups.
3. Check the answers with the whole class.

1. Glad to meet you, Danny.?
glad意为“高兴的,乐意的”,常用短语为be glad to do sth.,意为“乐意做某事,高兴做某事”,相当于be happy to do sth.。
I’m glad to hear he’s feeling better.听说他感觉好些了,我很高兴。
2. What do you hate??
hate to do sth.= hate doing sth., 意为“讨厌做某事”。hate 的反义词是like, 近义词是dislike。
Danny hates to work at night. 丹尼不喜欢在晚上工作。
3. I don’t like rain either.?
【辨析】too, also, either
too多用于口语中,语气较随便。一般用在肯定句中,放在句末。
He is a student. I am a student, too.他是一名学生。我也是一名学生。
also是比较正式的用语,语气较庄重。它经常放在句中,位于行为动词之前,系动词和助动词之后。
He likes playing ping-pong. I also like it.他喜欢打乒乓球。我也喜欢。
My sister can sing. My brother can also sing.我的姐姐会唱歌。我的哥哥也会唱歌。
either表示“也”时,一般只用于否定句中,且置于句末。
I don’t know him. Tom doesn’t know him, either.我不认识他。汤姆也不认识他。
4. I have one more question.?
one more question相当于another question,
意为“还有一个问题”。此类短语可以归纳为“数词+more”结构, 相当于“another+数词”。
Please give me two more apples. 请再给我两个苹果。
[设计意图] 阅读训练不仅仅是做阅读理解题,更重要的是帮助学生从中获取信息,获得乐趣,从学生的角度来设计教学活动,使学生的学习活动具有明确的目标,并构成一个有阶梯度的连续活动。
Step Ⅴ. Project
1. Instruct each student to make a chart like the one in the student book.
2. Then ask the students to go around the classroom and ask their classmates some questions. That will help them get to know each other. Students should fill in the chart with their classmates’ responses.
3. Assign each student a partner. Then ask each student to share what he or she learned about his or her partner in front of the class.
[设计意图] 通过这两个活动,让学生进一步了解周围朋友的生活,也巩固了本课教学目标中,关于提高学生表达喜好的能力。通过合作来体验目标语言,体验学的过程和快乐。
