Lesson 22 I like my neighbourhood
本课的教学内容是第四单元的第四课时, 在教学过程中, 教师应创设“社区生活”的情景, 围绕这一话题谈论社区里的设施。在授课之前先让学生仔细了解自身所在街区的情况, 课上让学生通过小组合作的形式相互交流。教师可以借助幻灯片展示一些街区场景的图片, 让学生简单介绍。

Show some pictures about the neighbourhood and discuss the following questions: How many buildings are there in your neighbourhood? What’s your favourite? Why?
Show some pictures about football, basketball, ping-pong, tennis, volleyball and badminton with PPT.

T: Do you know about hockey?

T: Hockey is a very popular sport in Canada. Let’s learn more about it.

Step Ⅱ. Listening
1. Play the audiotape for Lesson 22 (I Like My Neighbourhood) . Play it once and ask the students just to listen.
2. Play the audiotape a second time and ask the students to complete Exercise 2 in “Let’s Do It!”.

Step Ⅲ. Reading
1. Instruct the students to read Lesson 22 silently and complete Exercise 1 independently.
2. Read the passage again and answer the following questions.
(1) When does Michael usually play hockey?
(2) What does Michael usually do on weekends?
(3) How much does the hot chocolate cost?
【Keys】 (1) During the winter the pond freezes.

3. Play the audiotape for Lesson 22 a third time. Ask the class to listen to it and read aloud along with the audiotape.
4. Ask the students to read the text and have a further study of the text.

1. There is a pond near my house. ?
There be…意思是“有……”, 在这个句型中, There是引导词, 句子的主语是 be动词后面的名词(短语) , be 动词的单、复数取决于离它最近的名词(短语) 的单复数。
There are three elephants in the zoo. 动物园里有三头大象。
2. It’s only three blocks from my house. ?
“It’s +距离+(away) from…”表示“某地离某地的距离有多远”, 其中away可以省略。
The library is two kilometers away from the supermarket. 图书馆离超市有两公里远。
3. Sometimes I sit for the whole afternoon and do my homework. ?
all与whole都有“整个, 全部”的含义。一般来讲, all可以修饰各类名词, 且限定词要放在all之后。而whole只能修饰具有整体意义的单数名词, 且限定词要放在whole之前。

【辨析】cost, pay, spend, take
(1) cost 作动词, 意为“花费”, 主语为物, 通常为所买的东西, 不能是人, 后跟宾语, 句型: “Sth. cost(s) sb. +钱数”。

(2) pay意为“给……付款”, 宾语为人或钱, 不能是购买的物品, 常用于“Sb. +pay(s) +钱数+for+名词(所买的物品) ”或“Pay+钱数+for+sb. /sth. ”句型中。
(3) spend常指花费金钱或时间, 主语必须是人, 句式为“Sb. +spend(s) +时间/金钱+on sth. /(in) doing sth. ”。
(4) take意为“花费”时, 常用于句型“It takes/took sb. +时间+to do sth. ”意为“某人做某事花费多少时间”。
