Reading: The Olympic Games—An Interview
1、整体设计思路、指导依据说明
指导思想:高中英语课程的课程性质,工具性与人文性的特征。教语言,更要教语言之外的思维、文化、价值判断等。要重视对阅读文本的解读。
理论依据:给出出处,阅读教学是教师、学生、文本彼此对话的过程。教师对文本的准确、深入的解读是这一对话成功的基础和保障。本课力图体现教师对文本的结构、语言、体裁的细致解读和对学生深层次阅读的指导。
遵循“优化学习方式,提高自主学习能力”的基本理念,引导学生采用观察、体验、探究等学习方法,发现、了解、建构知识,充分发挥学习潜能,从而通过阅读教学培养学生探究性学习和自主学习的能力。
2、教学背景分析(The Analysis of Teaching Background)
【教学内容分析】
本节课选取的是人民教育出版社新课标教材,必修二第二单元,“The Olympic Games”中的阅读课,文章的标题是“An Interview”。
本课作为本单元的第一篇阅读,第二课时。在上该课前,已经通过对教材中warm-up部分的处理,引入“体育运动和奥运会”这一话题,帮助学生在大脑中形成一个有关“体育运动及奥运会”的信息包和复习或学习有关描述体育运动的名词。在本篇文章中作者通过一个虚拟的采访,让学生对比古今奥运会的异同点。通过本课的教学,使学生更好地了解到有关奥林匹克运动会方面的一些常识及奥运精神,从而培养学生对体育的热爱及爱国精神。同时,重在培养学生的阅读技能,在教学中有意适当渗透英语的阅读技巧。
本课书计划分为两课时进行处理。第一课时进行阅读理解:指导学生尝试各种阅读策略,从信息点较分散采访报道文章中,指导学生从课文中获得信息,理解细节,并能归纳段落大意,理解作者的写作方法;第二课时进行词汇和语法学习:在第一课时的基础上,落实词汇知识,在文意理解的基础上,领会、掌握新的词汇、短语。本教学设计是本课书的第一课时。
该文章具有如下3个特点:
1. 话题贴近生活、语义深刻、有教育意义:“奥运会”这个话题是中学生有一定的了解的,课文让学生更全面更深层的理解奥运的发展历史,奥运精神,以及中国与奥运的关系,激发学生对体育运动的热情,激励他们刻苦学习,培养他们的爱国热情,具有一定的教育意义。
2. 课文材料是让学生通过阅读一篇虚拟采访来了解奥运概况,从采访文体所给的语言材料中获取相关信息,并通过对信息的加工和处理,提高综合运用语言的能力。
3. 语篇中生词不多,个别句子结构比较复杂。
【学生情况分析】
本节课的授课对象是高一的学生,共56人。
话题熟悉度:在认知方面,学生们对本文的话题“奥林匹克运动会”是有一定的了解的,并对此话题有一定的兴趣。
在思维方面,学生们年龄普遍为14-15岁,求知欲高,接受新事物快。
语言技能基础:在语言能力方面,经过半年的高中学习,他们已经积累了一定的语言知识,掌握了一点基本的阅读策略,如把握中心、理解细节、分析中心与细节的关系等技能。
学习困难预设:1.本课存在一些词汇障碍,有可能导致学生对细节把握不够恰当准确,但是学生应该可以读懂基本文意。2.学生有一定的获取信息的能力,但对信息的深层次理解、加工、整和的能力尚待进一步锻炼和提高。

【知识与技能】
1.全面培养学生听、说、读、写英语的四种基本技能,并侧重培养学生的阅读能力和知识运用能力,以促进学生的智力开发和思维发展。
2.掌握课文大意,并能根据关键词和关键句,用自己的话复述课文并缩写成文。
3.通过本课的教学,使学生了解奥林匹克运动会方面的知识,激发学生对体育运动的热情,激励他们刻苦学习,增强他们的学习兴趣,培养他们的爱国热情。

7、教学过程设计( The Design of Teaching Procedures)
Step1 Lead-in
The teacher shows the students the five-ring flag, the Olympic torch, the Olympic slogan and medals of some kinds of sports games, and then ask them to say some basic information about the Olympic Games
T: Who wants to say something about the Olympic Games? Volunteers?
S1: They are held every four years.
S2: The 29th Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008.
T: Good! What does the five-ring stand for?
S3: It stands for five continents.
T: Which continent does the blues ring stand for? How about the red ring? …ect.
Say the names of the sports games according to the pictures.
(At the same time, the teacher listens to Ss’ opinions carefully and introduces some new words, and the students listen to the T’s introduction of some new words and take down necessary notes.)
设计意图:
这部分读前活动的设计源自对文章特点和学生特点的分析,为之后的阅读和讨论做了两方面的准备:
话题引入:展示奥运五环、奥运火炬、奥运口号和一些奥运项目金牌的图片,可以吸引学生注意力,激发学生对即将学习的课文的兴趣。学生学友兴趣也就乐于学,教师应鼓励和实现学生的表现欲望,对于善于思考和积极主动回答的学生给予表扬,使学生以积极热情的学习态度来面对将要阅读的材料,启发他们阅读的动机。
词汇学习:在总结学生发言的过程中,自然地在语境中引入一些文章中即将出现的生词。这样的词汇学习既轻松自然又排除了之后阅读环节中的一些词汇障碍。

设计意图:
predict既是学生阅读的技巧之一,也是调动学生思维、注意力、求知欲的捷径。让学生在预设、搜索、求证、否定等的过程中,加深对文章的理解。但是学生较少接触虚拟采访的文体,因此,既充满期待,又有畏难情绪。教师对阅读这类文章的技巧指导就显得尤为重要。

设计意图:
从整体上把握文章的脉络,帮助学生掌握文章的大意,以求对文章的深层次得理解。从近几年的高考阅读理解题目的设置中不难看出,它要求学生不仅能够完成浅层理解题,更要能够在快速阅读后透彻理解全文并归纳全文提供的信息,从而进行正确的逻辑推理甚至对文中未提及的情况进行推理想象。这就要求学生必须在平时的阅读学习中训练对文章整体的理解和中心大意的概括,培养和提高整体理解的阅读能力。
也锻炼了学生跳读的技巧。采访文章不同于其它文体的文章,它的信息点较分散,学生看完后,往往很难把握住细节。这时候,如果问一些深层次理解的问题,学生的自信心就会受到打击,接下去课堂可能就会陷入沉闷,刚刚培养起的学习热情就会立刻荡然无存。
