Figure out the similarities and differences between Frankenstein and Pygmalion.HomeworkPygmalion (Greek mythology) Pygmalion(皮格马利翁)was a Cypriot(塞浦路斯人)sculptor who carved a woman out of ivory. He didn’t care for any of the real women he knows , but his statue was so fair and realistic that he fell in love with it. "I sincerely wished the ivory sculpture will be changed to a real woman.“
Venus granted his wish. it was changed to a beautiful woman.
Pygmalion married the ivory sculpture changed to a woman under Venus’ blessing. They had a son and a daughter as well.Similarities 1. Both of them are creators.
2. Both of them attempt to construct their creations to be beautiful.
3. Creations were changed and produced an effect on creators. Differences 1. Different intentions
Pygmalion’s sculpture is created for his ego and is acceptable in society, while Frankenstein's monster was created to help the science community, but ended up being hated and despised by society. 2. The monster is 100% man-made. While Pygmalion’s statue was changed to a beautiful woman by the goddess of love.
