how 用来询问做事的方式或手段，意为 “怎样、如何”。
by 在这里意为“通过…的方式,靠,用”,表示方式、方法、手段或途径,对其提问，应用特殊疑问词how。
By +无冠词的名词或动名词（短语）
Our minds are developed by learning. 大脑是靠学习开发。
He made a living by teaching. 他以教书为生。
Don't judge a person by appearances. 勿以貌取人。

◆ with 指 “凭借某物，使用某物”（加的对象是具体的事物，
比如，某种工具或自身的某种器官 ）。
We like to write with a pen.?We see with our eyes.?
◆ in 通常与“衣着、声音、书写材料或语言”等名词连用。? in English??speak in a soft voice?
◆ on + 电器或媒介：?on TV / radio / Internet
◆ through 指“通过，经由（加的对象是个人，组织）”。
I got the information through Mr. Wang.
She found a job through an employment agency.
◆ by指“利用某种特殊的东西(加的对象用零冠词）或通过
做某事。
引导方式状语的其它介词
① by + 地点名词, 表方位，意为：“在…旁边”。如：
by the lake/river/tree/window/door
注:有时可表 “从…旁经过” ,多与动词go / walk /pass等连用。
go by the old cottage
② by + 时间名词, 意为: “不迟于”, “到……时为止”。如：
by now/then/this time/next Friday/the end of/three o'clock等。
③ by + 交通工具名词，意为：“通过…，由…，乘…”。如
by train /bus/ boat/ plane; by land/ road/sea/water/air等。
④ 用于被动句中, 表示行为主体,常译 作“被”,“由”等。如：
English is spoken by many people. 许多人讲英语。
by 的其它用法：
⑤ 表示抓或握的部位，常与动词catch/ take/ hold等连用。介词
by之后通常用定冠词 the而不用物主代词。
She held the child by the hand. 她抓住小孩的手。
He led the ox by the nose. 他牵着牛的鼻子走。
The policeman caught the thief by the arm.
警察抓住了小偷的胳膊。??
⑥ 表示单位，意为“以……计”，其后通常接表示计量单位的
单数名词，且名词前要用定冠词。如：
They are paid by the hour (by the month).
他们所得报酬按小时（月）计。
有时也接抽象名词，此时通常不用冠词。如：
Bananas are usually sold by weight.
香蕉通常按重量卖
⑦ (表连续或反复) 逐个;逐批
The teacher explained the text sentence by sentence.
教师逐句讲解了这篇课文。
⑧ 由于
She took my umbrella by mistake.
她误拿了我的伞。
⑨ (表程度)相差
He missed the bus by three minutes.
