A篇:
CAN you imagine what your life would be like if you had no arms or legs? Nick Vujicic, a 29-year-old Australian man, shows us his answer to this question: he can be a good speaker and writer, take care of himself and even have a family
Nick Vujicic was born, without arms and legs, in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. Nick faced all kinds of problems and troubles in his life. But he never gives up. Now Nick has his own speaking company: Attitude Is Attitude. And he has traveled around the world to give speeches. He shares with his audience the importance of vision and dreaming big. He says attitude (态度) is the most powerful tool in the life and failure (失败) is just a learning experience
Nick Vujicic was born without arms and legs. He overcame (克服) his disability and now he is a speaker. He speaks to millions of people, both in person and through his books. His latest book, Life Without Limits, has a powerful message of building a life of success and happiness.
Vujicic always has a smile on his face. But when he was a kid, he struggled with self-esteem (自尊心) problems. He wondered why he was different from other kids. His family and friends encouraged him and helped him overcome his problems.
“If it wasn’t for my family and friends, I would not have been here,” Vujicic said. “They were the ones who believed in me and loved me.”
Even so, Vujicic still had to deal with depression (抑郁) and loneliness. People laughed at him for being different.
Vujicic knows the harm bullying (恃强欺弱) can do. Bullying was the main reason why Vujicic tried to kill himself when he was ten by drowning himself in a river.
“A lot of people don’t understand that bullying is a major problem,” Vujicic said. “Many bullies hurt others,” he said, “because they have low self-esteem and are insecure. Like the people they bully, they don’t know who they’re supposed to be, either. The only thing that makes them feel like they have self-esteem is pushing other people around.”
“It’s very cowardly to make fun of others,” continued Vujicic. “It’s scary. It’s hard to stop.”But it’s not impossible.
Facing bullying can be a difficult and scary thing. But Vujicic said that taking life one day at a time is the best path forward. It’s going to get better.
He won his battles by coming back to the truth of who he is. “I know that my value is not determined by what I look, what I can’t do, or how many friends I have,” he said. “I’m Nick Vujicic and there’s not another Nick Vujicic out there.”
1. It can be inferred that now Nick ______.
A. makes a speech on happiness
B. makes a living by writing
C. doesn’t know what his future life is
D. leads a positive life
2. It is implied in the third paragraph that ______.
A. Nick owes his success to his family and friends
B. Nick can come to speak with the help of his family
C. Nick needs support from his family and friends
D. Nick is glad that his friends believe what he says
3. In the opinion of Nick, bullies are those who ______.
A. know what they should do
B. aren’t confident about themselves
C. give orders to others in a rude way
D. have a strong sense of safety
4. To fight against bullying, Nick advised kids to ______.
A. try killing themselves one day
B. make more friends for help
C. find their own personal truth
D. scare bullies by turning to parents
5. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Nick sets a good example to students.
B. Nick is brave enough to fight against bullies.
C. Nick turns from a bully to a speaker.
D. Nick has his advice for dealing with bullying.
B篇:
He wanted to go to college, and the only thing that might have
stopped him was his disability.
But this year, Zhang Yan and other physically disabled kids can realize their dream just like any other students.
As registration(报名)for this year’s college entrance examinations draws near, the government has loosened its requirements on physical examinations for new college students.
A new rule was jointly decided in March by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation. It clearly states that no student should be rejected(拒绝)simply because they have a physical disability.
Schools may still advise disabled students on the choice of their major if it is likely to affect their future chances of employment. However, the final decision will be up to the student.,
“Now I can just go ahead and do my best in the exams. I don’t have to worry that my healthier classmates will have the upper hand because of my disability,” said Zhang happily.
The 18-year-old boy will graduate this year from a Chengdu high
school in Sichuan Province. He lost an eye during an accident as a
child.
Zhang’s mother called Peking University to ask if her son’s eye problem would make it difficult for him to accepted by the university’s Bio-chemistry Department. She was happy to find out that their choice of students would be based “fairly” on exam results.
“The university official said my son would be judged at the same
level as other students ,” said Zhang’s mother.
6. From the report we can infer that Zhang Yan probably _____.
A. is not sure of his success in the coming exam
B. does a very good job in his studies.
C. will not be chosen by the Peking University.
D. shows not much interest in Peking University.
7. From the 5th paragraph we can infer that ___.
A. some colleges have strict limits to disabled students
B. a major is not important to disabled students.
C. Students are not free to choose their major.
D. disabled students may have difficulty finding a job if their major is not chosen properly.
8.Which of the following statements is WRONG according to the
report?
A. There will be no physical examinations for new college students this year .
B. Zhang Yan has some interest in Bio-chemistry .
C. Examination marks are quite important to students.
D. Many colleges used to set limits to disabled students.
9. Which can be the best headline for this report?
A. Zhang Yan Will Go To University.
B. Colleges Open Up To The Disabled
C. Lucky Disabled Students
D. A New Rule For Colleges.

个人情况 1962年生于江苏盐城,三岁因病右腿残疾;
2011年2月12日不幸在车祸中丧生。
感人事迹 1992年资助3名孤儿上学;
2006年,向南京红十字会申请死后捐献器官;
2008年汶川地震发生后,只身前往灾区……
注意:1. 对所给要点适当发挥,不简单翻译;
2. 词数150左右。参考词汇:孤儿 orphan 瘸的 lame
One possible version:
It is generally thought that disabled people are those who need care and help from our society. But it is not always true, and some are exceptions to the rule. Though they are physically disabled, they are self-reliant and even do their best to help others. Wang Hanlu is a good example. He was born in 1962, Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. An illness left his right leg lame at the age of three, but he never lost his hope for life.
Wang Hanlu helped many people in his life. In 1992, he began to support three orphans to finish their education. In 2006, he applied for donating his organs to Nanjing Red Cross upon his death. Shortly after the earthquake in Wenchuan happened in 2008, he went there alone and acted as a volunteer
It’s a pity that Wang Hanlu lost his life in a car accident in 2011. His life was short, but he really made a difference to our society. All of us should look up to him as a moral model.
