读后缩写教学设计 A Student of African Wildlife

教材分析
本单元紧扣“女性”这一中心话题,而阅读部分以《非洲野生动物研究者》为题,描写了简与她的同事们在非洲原始森林观察非洲黑猩猩的一个片段,并阐释她从事这项工作的重要性以及她所取得的成就。本文的价值取向在于学生通过本文的学习体会到女性在社会生活中的价值和贡献,培养学生(尤其是女学生)的自信心、事业心和社会责任感。
本文共有4个段落,可以分成两个部分。作者在第一部分站在同行的角度,描述了他们在按照简研究黑猩猩的方法在野外完整的一天的工作。尽管他们在野外的考察工作又脏又累,但他们觉得这样做是值得的。这一段基本上是遵循了一个时间线。第二部分主要是描述了简在野外研究黑猩猩所碰到了困难、做出的重要发现、取得的成就。
学情分析
本班学生英语基础较好,学习态度认真,学习热情比较高。学生已经基本具备在阅读中获取细节信息的能力,少部分学生能用英语流畅地书面或口头表达观点。但是多数学生在理解整合知识上相对欠缺。此外,课文缩写学生接触的也相对较少,学生在文章结构、选词用词、主要观点以及细节信息的判断上还需要多指导。

在本课结束时,学生能够:
掌握本篇阅读文章的主旨大意;
理解文章重要细节信息;
写出一篇课文缩写。

学生通过阅读,理解文章,画出文章第二部分思维导图并能输出一篇少于80字的课文缩写。

Lead in
T shows pictures of six great women and asks Ss to retell the six stories in warming-up in less than ten words.
Ss share their answers.
Introduce the words “summary”&“summarize”-a long piece into a short piece.
利用图片和短文,创设情境,引出主题,激活学生背景知识并引出学生问题。
Step 1. skimming
T invites Ss to skim the passage and answer three questions:
Who was the main character?
What animal was she studying?
Where did the study take place?
T invites Ss to share their answers.
T invites Ss to connect the three answers together and then Ss gets the main idea of the passage.
Jane Goodall studied chimps in the forest.

Step 2. Scaning
T invites Ss to scan the passage and match the paragraph with its main idea.
Ss give their answers altogether.
T invites Ss to pay attention to the main character in each paragraph.
T invites Ss to divide the whole passage into 2 parts according to their main character.
Part 1 includes paragrahp1.
Part 2 includes paragraph 2, 3, 4.
Ss gets a very clear idea about the structure of the passage.

Step 3. Close reading
T shows a mind map of part 1 she has drawn and introduce the word-mind map.
T introduces the way she draws the mind map.
T invites Ss to draw their map of part 2 with their group memvers and gives several map patterns Ss can follow.
Ss share their mind maps with other groups.
T presents a group’s map on the screen and add some information if necessary.
学生根据自己对文本的理解,进一步梳理细节信息,深度理解文本。

Step 4 summary writing
T tells Ss that National Geographic is to have Jane Goodall as its next cover stories and invites Ss to write a short article about Jane within 80 words and contribute it to the magazine. And the article is supposed to be based on the passage.
T introduces several rules about summary writing.
