Show the travelling time of each student and ask students to learn the new words and use the sentence pattern to describe their travelling time to school. New words: travel/ about/ minute/ hour/ half an hour Sentence pattern: It takes sb. st. to do sth.” Ask students to complete the sentences about Simon and Jill according to pictures. Ask students to complete sentences about Joe, Alice and Kitty by listening to the recording. ...lives/live near/far away from school. ...goes/go to school by.../on foot. It takes ...about...minutes/half an hour. Ask students to review Simon and his classmates’ travelling to school by reading a chart. Ask students to practise dialogues in pairs. “Do you live near or far away from school?” “How do you go to school?” “How long does it take?” Post-task activities1. Ask students to make a survey in groups, complete a form and draw a chart. 2.Ask students to make a report according to the survey. Look at the map and talk about it in pairs. Learn new words and sentence pattern to describe one’s travelling time to school. Look at the pictures and complete the sentences. Listen to the recording and complete the sentences.
