【辨析】maybe与may be
eg: He may be in the office. = Maybe he is in the office. 他或许在办公室。
二者有时也可互换。
maybe 副词，意思是“也许，可能”，在句中作状语，相当于perhaps，常位于句首。
may be
may 是情态动词，be是动词原形，两者构成完整的谓语形式，意为“也许是，可能是”。
巧记maybe与may be：
合并作状语，分开作谓语。
舍maybe仍有意，丢may be可不成。

频度副词是指表示动作发生次数的副词。
常见的有：never, hardly ever (seldom),
sometimes, often, usually, always等。
这些频度副词在表示动作的频率时，程
度上有别，其差异可用下面的图示表示。

1. always 意为“总是，一直”，表示动作反复，状态持续，不间断。频率最高，其反义词是never，意为“从不”。如果要变为否定句，应将always改为never才能全部否定；not与always连用表示部分否定。另外，当always与进行时态连用时，常表示“总是”，带有厌烦、不满或赞美等感彩。如：

李平上学从不迟到。（全部否定）
Li Ping is not always late for school.
李平并非总是上学迟到。（部分否定）
The boy is always asking for money.

频率副词
2. usually意为“通常”, 表示习惯性动作或状态,很少例
外。频度仅次于always，反义词为unusually。如：
We usually go to school at seven in the morning.
我们通常在早上七点上学。
My mother and I usually go shopping on Sundays.
我和妈妈通常在星期天去买东西。
频率副词
3. often意为“经常,时常”, 表示反复性的动作或状态,
中间有间断。不如usually那么频繁，其反义词是
seldom, 意为“很少,不常”。often在句尾时常被very
或quite修饰。如：
They often go for a walk after supper.
晚饭后他们经常去散步。?
My parents often take me to the zoo on weekends.
我父母常常在周末带我去动物园。

4. sometimes意为“有时”, 表示动作偶尔发生, 间隔较
长。频率比often低。其位置比较灵活，放在句首、
句中、句末都可。如：
Sometimes they play football on Saturday afternoon. = They sometimes play football on Saturday afternoon. = They play football on Saturday afternoon sometimes.
他们有时在星期六下午踢足球。
频率副词
5. hardly ever (seldom)意为“很少,几乎不”, 频度较低。
表示否定意义。
He seldom has lunch at home. 他很少在家吃午饭。
The little girl hardly ever goes out.
这个小女孩很少外出。
He hardly ever gives his wife a present, does he?
他不常给妻子送礼物，是吗？

6. never意为“从来不,从来没有”, 表示一次也没有，
频率为零，并表否定意义。e.g.?
He never lives there. 他从来都没有在那儿住过。
She never has anything to do.?她一向无所事事。

迟到（迟做）总比不来（不做）好。
频率副词
（1）频度副词一般用在行为动词之前，be动词、助动词或情态动词之后,有多个助动词时，一般放在第一个助动词后。
We often get together. 我们常常聚会。
He is always late for school. 他总是上学迟到。
I shall always remember this.我将永远记住这一点。
I have never heard this song . 我从来没有听过这首歌。

（2）频度副词位于助动词之前两种情况：? ?
1. 为了表示强调，频度副词有时也可位于动词be、助动词、情态动词之前,此时助动词等应重读。?
e.g. She always was late.?她老是迟到。?
I never can remember. 我永远也记不住。
He never should have joined the army.
他根本不应当参军。

（2）频度副词位于助动词之前两种情况：?
2. 在简略答语中，当频度副词与动词be、助动词
或情态动词位于句末时，频度副词必须前置。
e.g. - Philip is late again. 菲利普又迟到了

I know I should take exercise, but I never do.

（3）频度副词在否定句中的用法
在否定句中，usually, often可位于否定词not之后或之前;always则必须位于否定词之后;而sometimes必须
位于否定词not 之前。 　He doesn’t usually(usually doesn’t) come here. 　She doesn’t always come late. 　He is sometimes not satisfied with my work.

1. sometimes常可用于句首。如：?
Sometimes she comes late. 有时她来得晚。
2. often用于句首时,通常表示强调,且其前一般quite,very修饰。??如:Very often he comes in late. 他常常迟到。?
Quite often the phone rings when I'm in the bath.
电话经常在我洗澡时响。
3. usually有时也用于句首,其前不用修饰语。如：?
Usually I get up early. 我平时起得早. ?

4. always一般不用于句首，除非是用在祈使句中。?如：?Always remember this.? 请时刻记住这一点。
另外，never也可用于祈使句的句首。如:
Never tell him the news. 千万不要告诉他这消息。?
5. 在正式文体中,表示否定意义的副词seldom,never可位于句
首, 但此时其后要用倒装语序。如：??
Seldom has there been such a happy meeting.
过去很少有过这样愉快的会议。? ?
Never did he think the book would be finished so soon.

（5）频度副词位于句末的用法?
1. sometimes常可用于句末。?如:
We all get into trouble sometimes. 我们有时都会遇到麻烦。
2. often有时可置于句末，但通常会带有very, quite, fairly,
more, so等修饰语。如：
We've been there quite often.?我们经常去那里。
When I was young, I used to play tennis very often.
我年轻时经常打网球。??
These days she doesn't go away so often.
最近她不常出门了。

3. usually有时也用于句末,其前不用修饰语。?如:
I'm not late, usually. 我通常不迟到。? ?
4. seldom 一般不用于句末,除非其前带有only, very等修饰。如:
We go out very seldom. 我们绝少外出。?
5. always一般不用于句末,偶尔用于句末,此时它不表法 “总是”，
而表示 “永远”。如：??
I'll love you always.?我将永远爱你。
另外，有时用于句末是因为句子有所省略的缘故。?如：
Generally they walked together on Sunday, but not always.?
他们一般在星期日一起散步，但并不总是如此。

对频率进行提问,疑问词用how often“多久一次”。
其答语有下面几种情况：
1) 频度副词
always, usually, often, sometime, hardly ever, never
2) every + 名词单数
every day/morning/Sunday/week/ month/ term/ year
3) 次数 + a + 时间名词（年/月/周/日）
once a day / twice a week / once or twice a year /
two or three times a month
4) 次数＋every＋基数词＋时间名词（年/月/日/分…）
once every four years 每四年一次　
seven times every two minutes 每两分钟七次
频率副词
表示“每…/每隔…（基数词-1）”的结构:
every + 基数词 + 复数名词
= every + 序数词 + 单数名词
例: 我每隔一天去一次超市。
I go to the supermarket every two days.
= I go to the super every second day .
