The North Chicago-area teen started homeschooling at the age of 4. She began having an influence on others soon after. When she was 6 years old, she was an inspirational speaker at an organization called Tabitha House Community Service, a shelter for people who were forced to leave their homes due to the situations such as earthquake, flood and other natural disasters.

She grew up around airplanes and took fights all the time. Her goal is to use it to determine whether pilots are dealing with problems that could have deadly results once the plane takes off—a topic that has been in the news lately. For her, it's a mix of two of her interests.
In her free time, Thessalonika enjoys playing tennis, swimming and being active in her youth group at church. She also has three self-published books, which are on her site. Crossing your legs is an extremely common habit ; most people don't even notice that they're doing it when they sit down. While you may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.
A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring stated that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure. The reason for this is that the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to be pumped back to your heart and that crossing one leg over the other increases resistance, making it even harder for the blood to circulate. This causes your body to increase your blood pressure to push the blood back to the heart. You won't feel any immediate effects, but repeated, drawn-out increases in blood pressure can cause long-term health issues. So, planning to sit for a long period of time? Don't keep your legs crossed.
"Crossing your legs at the knee can also cause pressure on the major nerve in your leg that passes just below your knee and along the outside of your leg, ” explains Richard Graves, a medical expert. This pressure can cause numbness and temporary paralysis(麻 痹)of some of the muscles in your foot and leg, preventing you from being able to raise your ankle—what we know as that “pins and needles" sensation. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage.
So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet on the floor. Not only will it help your posture and stability, but it will also save your health in the long run.
What can we learn about crossing one's legs?
It is a very bad social habit.
It is usually practiced deliberately.
It can do harm to people's health.
It can make others feel uncomfortable.
According to the study, sitting with your legs crossed can .
A. affect your blood pressure B. resist gravity effectively
C. lead to heart attacks easily D. improve the fun_ction of legs
In the third paragraph “pins and needles" probably means “ "
A. slight sharp pains B. being a little nervous
C. serious muscle injuries D. being highly flexible
What is the main purpose of the text?
To compare common habits.
To give readers some advice.
To evaluate effects of an experiment.
To introduce research methods.

Why Do We Find It Hard to Say “No”?
As we all know, saying “no" to others is not easy at all. But sometimes we have to learn to say “no".36 Below are common reasons why people find it hard to say
“no”:
● 37 You are a kind soul at heart. You don't want to turn the person away and you want to help when possible, even if it may eat into your time.
● Afraid of being rude. I was brought up under the idea that saying “no", especially to people who are older, is rude. This thinking is common in Asian culture, where face saving is important. 38
●Wanting to be agreeable. You don't want to alienate(疏远)yourself from the group because you're not in agreement. So you agree to others5 requests.
●Fear of conflict(冲突)39 This might lead to an ugly confrontation ((面对)) 。 Even if there isn't, there might be disagreement which might lead to bad effects in the future.
● 40 Perhaps you are worried saying “no" means closing doors. For example, one of my friends5 wives was asked to work in another department in her company. Since she liked her team, she didn't want to go. However, she didn't want to say “no" as she felt it would affect her promotion(晋升)chances in the future.
Wanting to help others.
Fear of losing chances.
Wanting to keep a good relationship.
I slowly realized I needed to learn to say “no".
You are afraid the person might be angry if you refuse him/her.
It means not making others look bad or lose face.
To learn to say “no", we have to first understand what’s stopping us from it.
