Abing, one of the most famous Chinese musicians of the 20th century, was born on August 17th, 1893 in the eastern Chinese city in Wuxi.
Abing's father trained him in drums at his age of 10. Abing began learning the dizi at the age of 12, then the erhu. However, Abing got poor after his father died. Even worse, at the age of 34, he developed a serious illness and became blind. He became homeless and made a living as a street performer.
He became famous for his erhu works. Erquan Yingyue is one of the most popular pieces.
