In Thailand, there’s a water festival there from April 13 th to 15 th. This is the time of the Thai New Year. People go on the streets to throw water at each other.

Do you know Qu Yuan? Do you like eating zongzi? This festival held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. In June, you can watch fantastic dragon boat races in Hong Kong.

This festival is the Chinese new year, Every home needs to be cleaned and new clothes need to be bought. On the eve, they can set off fireworks(烟花). They can also get some money from their parents

Guessing lantern riddles(谜语）is an important activity in this Festival. Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the lanterns.

3. 句型详解
1) Bill thinks that the races were not that interesting to watch.
彼尔认为比赛看起来并不是那么有趣。
句中两个that 的意义及所表达的功能都不同。第一个that 是连接词，引导的陈述句作宾语从句，本身没有任何意义。第二个that 是副词，修饰形容词interesting意为“如此，那么”。
e.g. I know that he won’t come tomorrow.我知道他明天不会回来的。
The weather isn’t that hot.天气没那么热。
2) I wonder if it’s similar to the Water Festival of the Dai people in Yunnan Province.
我想知道它是否与云南傣族的泼水节相似。
if作是否讲，此句引导的宾语从句表示疑问，怀疑的意义，意为“是否”。此处也可用whether 表示。
e.g. The teacher wants to know if he has finished his homework..
老师想知道他是否已完成了作业。
