1. No more mystery in the Neighborhood 社区里不再神秘
( 1 ) no more相当于not...any more,意为“不再……”。No more一般放于连系动词、助动词或情态动词之后,实义动词之前,而any more一般放于句末。
We are no more students. =We aren’t students any more. 我们不再是学生了。
辨析:no more和no longer
no more
相当于not...any more,表示数量和程度上的“不再”,通常修饰非延续性动词,一般指今后“不再”,故多用于将来时。
He will no more go there. =He will not go there anymore.他不会再去那里了。
no longer
相当于not...any longer,指时间或距离上的“不再延长”,通常修饰延续性动词,多指现在的情况与过去相比,故常用于现在时态。

=You can’t stay here any longer.

( 2 ) mystery名词,意为“神秘的事物”;mysterious形容词,意为“神秘的,难以解释的”。

3: 常用情态动词主要用法小结
1) can / could
(1) 表能力:“能够……”,“会…”, can’t/couldn’t “不能…”, “不会…”
例:--- Can you play the piano? --- No, I can’t.
She could run and was a good player.
表允许, “可以”。
例:Can I come in?
He said we could go to the shop for sweets.
could 比can语气更委婉。也可以用 “may”.
表猜测,多用于疑问或否定句。
例:Can it be true?
He can’t be more than thirty.
Where could he have gone?
表一时的情况, “有时候会…..”
例:Children can be very annoying.
Our house is on the top of the hill, and in winter the winds can be very cold.
2) may / might
表许可或征求同意, “可以”。
例:May / Might I leave?
You may bring them back tomorrow.
May开头的一般疑问句做否定回答,常用can’t或mustn’t.
表示“不可以”或“不许”。
--- May I play computer games for another two hours?
--- Sorry, you can’t/mustn’t. It’s bad for your eyes.
(3) 表可能性, “可能,或许”。
例: We may go to Hong Kong for vacation next month.
He thought it might be wise to try his luck there.
(4) may 表祝愿。
例:May you be happy!

must
表示“必须,一定要”。
例:You must see the doctor.
否定式mustn’t 表示“不许,禁止”
People mustn’t drive on the road after drinking.
(3) must 开头的一般疑问句做否定回答,常用 needn’t 或don’t have to.
--- Must I hand in my homework today?
--- No, you needn’t/don’t have to. You can hand it in tomorrow.
(4) 表猜测,“一定…..”.
例:Judging by the smell, the food must be good.
He must have arrived by air.
He must be working hard.

No More Mystery in the Neighborhood
Last week,in a quiet neighborhood,something strange happened. Many people in the neighborhood often heard strange noises outside their window at night. They tried to solve the problem,but they couldn't find out what was making noises. Everyone felt uneasy.
We now know what was happening in the neighborhood. Three monkeys ran away from the zoo and came to the neighborhood. Perhaps the three monkeys felt so excited that they made noises. The workers from the zoo searched for the three monkeys and finally found them in a big tree in the neighborhood.
