1. Money
It’s useful when you need to buy souvenirs(礼物)or you’d like to try anything new. Consider entrance fees(门票)and rentals(租金)when you go out and lack (缺少) the necessary equipments during your adventure. Remember, you can’t always expect ATMs near beaches or in mountains. Bring enough to make your life easier.

Travel is fun and exciting, but it’s not if you get sick. You may think,“Not me,I won’t get sick on my vacation.” But,for many people, that is what happens.
Of course you don’t want to spend your vacation sick in bed. So what can you do to stay in good health? There are three things you should remember when you travel: relax, sleep and eat well.
A vacation is supposed to be a time for relaxing. But very often it is not. Think about what you do when you are a tourist. There are so many places to visit: museums, shops, parks and churches. You may spend most days walking around these places. This can be very tiring. You may have a terrible headache after a few hours. If this is the way you feel, you should take a rest. Don’t ask your body to do too much. A tired body means a weak body. And a weak body gets sick easily. So sit down for a few hours in a nice spot. In good weather, look for a quiet park bench. Or you can stop at a café. You can learn a lot by watching people while you rest.
Sleep is also important. If you want to stay healthy, you need to get enough sleep. You may have trouble sleeping at night when you travel. Your hotel room may be noisy or the bed may be uncomfortable. If this is true, don’t be afraid to change rooms or hotels. Or you may not get enough sleep for another reason. You may want to stay out late at night. In many cities the nightlife can be very exciting. Then you should plan to sleep for an hour during the day. The extra (额外的) hour can make a big difference.
Finally, if you want to stay healthy, you must eat the right kinds of food but you need to be careful about how much you eat. Lots of food is not good for you.
So, remember this. If you want to enjoy your vacation, take good care of yourself. Give your body some rest. Get enough sleep and eat good, healthy food.

收件人(To):____________________________________(收件人电子邮件地址)
Greeting from.../ Glad to mail you. / How are you?
Best regards./ Best wishes.
Sincerely yours /Truly yours.
BR = best regards
BTW = by the way
FYI = for your information
ASAP = as soon as possible

We played many kinds of sports there and learnt more about nature. However, because the town lies in a remote mountainous district, the locals are still leading a poor life.
(A)
People who like traveling have their reasons. They believe that traveling can help them expand their field of view, especially in the geographical and historical sense. They also think that touring will give them more chances to enjoy different kinds of food and experience new things that would never be brought by other activities. But those who dislike traveling also have some reasons.
Traveling, in my opinion, does more good than harm. Most importantly, it broadens(使扩大)our mind. We can get in touch with other civilizations(文明),cultures, customs and ideas.
Through history, most people traveled because of necessity(必要性)-not for pleasure. People traveled just in order to remain alive. They searched for food to eat or places to live in. They sometimes ran away from enemies. This is not to say that no one ever traveled just for fun of it. In ancient times, for example, rich Romans traveled all the ways to Greece to take part in the Olympic Games, and festivals. Of course, some people decided to travel just out of curiosity(好奇心).They wanted to find out what it looked like beyond the horizon(地平线).Also business travel has been going on for centuries. Traders could not only make money but also learn to speak several languages and be introduced to different cultures.
So,traveling does enrich our mind and draw new ideas to us. There is no doubt that we can get much from it.
1. The underlined word “expand” in Paragraph 1 can be replaced by “________”.
A. widen B. protect C. lose D. decide
2. According to the passage,in the past most people traveled .
A. for fun B. for knowledge C. to get experiences D. to make a living
3. How many reasons for traveling are mentioned in Paragraph 3?
A. Three. B. Four. C. Five. D. Six.
4. What’s the main idea of this passage?
A. Different kinds of traveling.
B. Traveling enriches our mind.
C. Ways to enjoy yourself while traveling.
D. The advantages and disadvantages of traveling.

One evening I went out and left my 17-year-old son and his girlfriend in charge of his 8-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister. I left with complete confidence that the older children would do a wonderful job of babysitting the younger children. Later, I discovered that I was completely wrong.
I had decided to return home earlier than planned so that my son and his girlfriend could go out. I called home with this happy news. But instead of hearing his cheerful, grateful voice on the other end of the line, all I heard was the sound of a telephone ringing.
It was, I should point out, after 10 p.m., when the two younger children should have been in bed, and when the two older children should have been answering the phone. “I’ll give him a lesson, ” I said.I decided they must be outside. Why they might be outside at 10:30 on a winter night I had no idea, but it was the only explanation I could come up with.
Finally, in desperation(绝望), I called his girlfriend’s house. His girlfriend answered.“Yes,” she said brightly, “He’s right here.” He came on the phone.I was not my usual calm, patient. After all, one of the rules of survival for modern parents is that you can’t trust modern teenagers. “Where are the children?” I said. He said they were with him. They had done nothing wrong. My son had taken the younger children over to his girlfriend’s house just for ice cream and cake. Well, it turns out that I shouldn’t have believed it.It was only part of the truth.
The following Saturday evening we were at my parents’ home, celebrating my birthday. My oldest son gave me the children’s gifts --- a series of lovely color photographs of my children, dressed in their best clothes, and wearing their most wonderful expressions. They are pictures to treasure a lifetime, all taken by the father of my son’s girlfriend.

get a good view of sth.
4. B。 as possible“尽可能地……”;as usual“照常,跟往常一样”;at present“现在”;at last“最终”。
give up“放弃”;make up one’s mind“下定决心”;无take one’s mind结构。
6. C。take a friendly attitude to/toward sb.
dream of/about doing sth.
12. C。Go ahead 去做吧!
13. A。要鼓励别人,用come on。take care 小心;have fun 玩得高兴;good luck 祝你好运。从空后的You can make it.
15. A。 所以选A。
2.A. manage to do sth.
从下文一句when I deposited my luggage可推知C项正确。

(A)
Through history,most people traveled because of necessity-not for pleasure.
I left with complete confidence that the older children would do a wonderful job of babysitting the younger children.
I decided they must be outside 和 But instead of hearing his cheerful, grateful voice on the other end of the line, all I heard was the sound of a telephone ringing.

Saturday, May 4 Cloudy
Li Ming and I took part in a wilderness survival program yesterday, and it has been one of the most unforgettable experiences since high school.
Early in the morning, we set out. Li Ming was carrying a compass and a tent in his backpack, and in mine there was a flashlight, a map, a knife, a first-aid kit, some matches, candles, food, and clothing. On the way to the campsite, we climbed a hill. And then we swam across a river, pushing the backpacks on a large piece of wood we had found by the river. As we got into a forest, we lost our way. Luckily, we found the right direction with the compass. By the time we arrived at the campsite, it had already been dark. Li Ming then put up the tent, and I made a fire and started cooking.
The two of us spent the night in the forest.
We learned to use knowledge gained in classroom training to solve problems. It was quite an experience for us both, which I will never forget for the rest of my life.
