Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Warming up
Get the students to recognize as many sea creatures as possible in the picture. The teacher will write down some names on the blackboard if necessary.
T: Seen from outer space, the planet we live on is so beautiful and blue. We call it the blue planet because about 70% of it is covered by water. And under the water, there is a wonderful world, in which many amazing sea creatures live happily and freely. Please look at the picture, can you recognize as many sea creatures as possible?
Step 2: Leading in
Lead the students to read a reading material.
T: So you can see two whales in the picture, right? Class, have you ever seen whales face to face? It doesn’t matter if not. The good news is that a travel agency is now organizing a whale watching tour. Let’s take a look.
Step 3: Reading
Get the students to glance through the reading material for the writing style and then read more carefully to get some detailed information.

Step 5: Consolidation
Get the students to reread the 6 sentences they have just completed and find some expressions people often use to make complaints. Students are supposed to write down the expressions on the learning sheets. Then check the answers by translating some sentences into English
T: Class, in the three dialogues, the tourists used many expressions and sentence patterns to make complaints. Please read the above 6 sentences you have just completed, find some expressions we can use to make complaints and write them down on your learning sheet.
Step 6: Making up dialogues (Pair work)
Get the students to choose a situation and make up a dialogue with their partners using the expressions they have learnt.
T: So far we have learnt so many useful expressions that we can use to make complaints, so why not use them to solve real problem? Here are two situations: Situation 1: The fish you ordered tastes terrible. Complain to the waiter or the manager. Situation 2: The skirt the tailor made for you is too long. Complain to the tailor. Please work with your partner to choose a situation and make up a dialogue. Try to use the expressions we have learnt when making your dialogue.
Step 7: Homework
Polish your dialogue with your partner and write down your dialogue on your notebook.
