Teaching plan
I Teaching aims:
1. Enable the students to learn about what is healthy eating.
2. The students should use what they have learnt in warming up about the balanced diet knowledge to analyse and compare Wang Peng’s restaurant with Yong Hui’s restaurant, and draw a conclusion.
3 Through group competition, develop the students’ ability of cooperation.
II Teaching procedures:
Step I Warming up
Part I Lead in
Lead in the topic of this unit by our every day free talk .
Ask the students some questions such as : Have you eaten breakfast? What did you eat?
Do you think it is healthy to eat fried eggs for breakfast?
Then lead in this unit’s topic: Healthy Eating.
Part II Food groups
Review the words of foods by showing their pictures. Then divide the the foods
into three groups, and using three questions to lead out three kinds of food. The questions are as follows:
If you want to take part in the Spring Sports Meeting, which kind of food should you eat?
My daughter is a little short, and she wants to grow taller, which kind of food should she eat?
If you catch a cold, which kind of food should you eat?
Fill in the blanks.

Part III Class discussion
Let the students imagine they are going to invite me for dinner,and let them have a group discussion and design a balance diet and plan a menu for me.
Then choose two of the students write their menu on the blackboard. While they are writing, ask more students to speak out their menus and add more points for their groups.
Before checking their menu, let the students learn about the balanced diet pyramid and sum up what makes a balanced diet.

Step II Reading
Part I Fast reading:
Through the group discussion we know that the students have mastered the knowledge of balanced diet and they can open their own restaurant.
Firstly, let the group leader Wang Peng and Yong Hui introduce their restaurants. Let the students guess who will win the competition.
Then dvide the text into three parts and let the students find the main idea of each part and have a connection exercises.
Part 1 Wang Peng thought out a good idea

Part 2 Wang Peng felt worried because his

Through fast reading, the students know that Wang Peng’s restaurant was not as full as it usually was, but Yong Hui’s restaurant was full of people. Let the students analyse the reason for it .
Firstly, let the group leader ask a group member introduce their menus.
Secondly, let the students analyse their strengths and weaknesses through asking the two group leaders some questions.
Finally, draw a conclusion through the former analysis. That is neither of their restaurant provide with us a balanced diet.
Part III Intensive reading:
Let the students sum up the main idea of the text through the following grammar fillings.
