学情分析 本课的教学对象是六年级学生。他们对英语学习的兴趣较浓厚,思维能力较强,自主学习氛围好。经过多年的英语学习,他们已经具备了一定的听、说、读、写的语言技能和阅读能力。此外,该部分内容涉及我国的某些著名城市及其闻名之处,贴近生活,可以引起学生的兴趣。
教材分析 本课选自人教2011课标(一年级起点)小学英语六年级上册Unit 1 In China的内容。本单元以中国的大好河山为载体,讨论某些城市的地理位置及其闻名之处。一共分为六个课时。本课内容是此单元的第二个课时,学生需要掌握四个方位词:east、west、south、north,并学习核心句型是:Where is...? What’s ... famous for? 及其答语It’s in the... of ... It’s famous for ...。教材通过Andy和Yaoyao谈论暑假的情景,让学生感知上述句型的语义及语用情景。通过大量的情景对话操练加以强化,应该能使学生较好地内化课本语言并锻炼他们的语言组织能力和口语表达能力,从而进一步培养学生综合运用语言的能力。
教学目标 语言知识目标:1. 能够听、说、读、写单词:east、west、south、north、famous。 2. 能够听、说、读、写与提问城市方位及其闻名之处相关的核心句型:Where is...? What’s ... famous for? 及其答语:It’s in the ... of China. It’s famous for ...语言技能目标:1. 能够用正确的语音语调表演并内化对话的交际内容。 2. 能够在真实情景中运用句型Where is ...? It’s in the ... of China.询问并回答某个城市的位置,用What’s ... famous for? It’s famous for...询问并回答当地出名之处,培养良好的语言交际能力。情感态度目标:能够积极参与到各种课堂活动和游戏,培养小组合作的能力。学习策略目标:能够积极主动地参与课堂交际活动,并主动地将学到的语言知识运用到日常生活中。文化意识:能够通过了解祖国各地的人文地理,增强对祖国的热爱,践行社会主义核心价值观。
教学重难点 教学重点:能够听、说、读、写核心句型:Where is...? What’s ... famous for? 及其答语:It’s in the ... of China. It’s famous for ...教学难点:能够在真实情景中运用上述句型描述自己所在的城市或者自己喜欢的城市。
一、教学过程
Step 1 Warming up
1. Greeting
T: Hello, everyone! How do you feel today?
Ss: I feel …
T: What’s the weather like today? Do you like the weather?
Ss: It’s … I (don’t) like the weather.
T: Great! How about having a competition? I want to divide you into four groups. If you did a good job, you can get a heart sticker. I think we can have a good time in this lesson. Did you have a good time on the summer vacation?
S1: ...
设计意图:师生简单问候,调节课堂氛围,帮助学生迅速进入学习状态。同时将出现本课对话中的基础句型融入其中进行复习。
2. Enjoy a picture show
T: I think you all had a nice summer vacation. Where did you go? Some of you uploaded the pictures about summer vacation. Let’s enjoy them.
T shows the pictures on the screen.
T: Look! It’s Zhou Yanlan. Do you have any questions to ask her? (5W1H)
设计意图:通过学生暑假旅行的照片展示祖国的大好风光,调动课堂气氛,提高学生上课的积极性和主动性。同时引导学生对针对照片的细节进行提问,复习巩固5W1H的一般过去时。
3. Let’s chant
T: Wow, I like the places you went! Here is a chant about it. Let’s chant together.
设计意图:通过朗朗上口的歌谣复习句型,为下一步的学习做准备。
Step 2 Lead in
1. Introduce T’s summer vacation and present the key sentences.
T: I went to some cities last summer vacation, too. Look at the pictures and guess where it is.
1)Chongqing: It’s in the west of China. It’s famous for spicy food and Hongyadong.
2)Chengdu: It’s in the west of China. It’s famous for hot pot and old buildings.
3)Xiamen: It’s in the south of China. It’s famous for Gulangyu Island and seafood.
设计意图:通过教师暑假旅行的照片,介绍重庆、成都及厦门,让学生语境中感知核心句型“It’s in the ... of China. It’s famous for ...”的意义和用法,以学生喜闻乐见的方式,达到语言输入的效果。
2. I am a tour guide.
1)Set a situation
T: China is a big and beautiful country. There are many attractive cities like. Chongqing, Chengdu and Xiamen. Let me be your tour guide now! All of you can get a map of China.
2)Learn the new words——north & famous
T: First, let’s go to Beijing. Look at the map, where is it? It’s in the north of China.
Ss learn the word with “phonics”. (horse/ ninth)
T: The Great Wall is so famous. Beijing is famous for the Great Wall. What else is it famous for?
Ss: It’s famous for …(Forbidden City/ Tian’anmen Square/ Peking opera...)
3)Go to Guangzhou and learn the new word——south
4)Go to Shanghai and learn the new word——east
5)Go to Turpan and learn the new word——west
6)Let’s chant
T: So we can describe the location of a city with these words.
Ss read after the tape. T: Here is a chant about it.
Chant:
East and west, home is the best. North and south, let’s have a rest.
设计意图:设置教学情境,教师以导游的身份带领学生游中国。通过北京、广州、上海、新疆四个地方教授四个方位词,并进一步教授和操练核心句型,为对话的学习扫清障碍。
Step 3 Presentation
1. Look, listen and say
1)Look and match
T: Do you like the cities I introduced to you? There are more cities here. What do you see in the pictures?
Ss talk about the pictures on the book.
T: Which one is the picture of Sanya/ Harbin/ Hangzhou/ Xining?
设计意图:讨论教材的配图内容,在教学情境中讨论课本中的四个城市的地理位置及其闻名之处,为对话的学习做铺垫。
2)Listen and say
① Watch a video and answer
T: Look! Our friends Andy and Yaoyao are talking. What are they talking about? Now, let’s watch a video and answer.
Q: What are they talking about?
设计意图:第一遍听对话录音,整体把握对话的主题。
② Listen and finish the mind map
T: Andy had a good summer vacation. So let’s listen carefully and get more information.

T: What did Andy do? He didn’t mention. But if we know Xining better, maybe we can guess the answer.
设计意图:第二遍听录音,完成思维导图,从时间、地点、人物、交通方式、事情等角度讨论Andy的暑假,有助于引导学生捕捉关键信息,充分理解对话的意义。此外,思维导图可以有助于学生学会在实际生活中开展对话,启动话轮。
③ Talk about Xining
Q1: Where is Xining?
Q2: What’s the weather like in Xining?
Q3: What’s Xining famous for?
T: Imagine you were Andy, what can you do in Xining? Do you want to go to Xining, too? I like Xining. I am going to Xining next summer vacation. How can we go there? Ss: You can go by plane or by train.
T: If you are going to Xining, How are you going there? Why?
S1: By train. Because it is cheaper.
S2: By plane. Because it is faster.
设计意图:通过问题进一步检测学生对对话的理解及其对核心句型的运用能力。在此基础上,激发学生的想象力,结合对话和学生对西宁的了解,猜测Andy在西宁的活动,锻炼和发展学生的思维能力。
④ Listen and repeat
设计意图:通过跟读,帮助学生及时纠正读音,掌握正确的语音语调。

Step 4: Consolidation
1. Task 1: Guess and say
T: I want to introduce more beautiful cities to you. Guess! What city is it?
设计意图:本环节创设小游戏,利用图片的信息沟,让学生根据常识猜测图中的城市,并运用核心句型展开讨论。让学生有机会、有兴趣运用课堂所学,讨论与生活息息相关的话题。
2. Task 2: Let’s go travelling
T: We all like travelling. Now if you have a chance to visit a city. But you don’t know it well, you can ask the volunteer there for help. The sentence pattern may help you. I will show you an example.

设计意图:本环节旨在创造真实情境,发散操练的句型,为学生提供语言输出的机会。
3. Task 3: Let’s write
T: These cities are so nice. How can we introduce a city to others? For example, I want to introduce Hangzhou to you, I can say...
Our hometown Shantou is also a beautiful city. Please try to introduce it to the your pen pal.
设计意图:通过活动,从听说技能训练延伸到写作技能训练,提高学生英语学习综合能力。此外,将学生的关注点从国内著名城市转移到学生的家乡,拉近了与学生的心理距离,有助于其发散思维,学以致用,结合所学进行语言输出。
Step 5: Sum up
T: Here is a video about our beautiful China. It is named China Impression. So happy we are to live in such a beautiful city, a beautiful country. So, we should love our hometown and love our country.
设计意图:通过《印象中国》的宣传片,让学生更加直观地感受祖国的魅力,简单总结后进行情感教育,再结合小组比赛的爱心贴纸,激发学生爱家乡,爱祖国的情感。
Step 6: Homework
T: Here is the homework for you. Please introduce Shantou orally, record it and upload it.
设计意图:必要的作业可以让学生及时巩固课堂所学。采取学生喜闻乐见的作业形式,可以其促进在现实生活中敢于讲英语,乐于讲英语。
