Unit 5 A Trip on “The True North”?
Unit 5 Canada — “ The True North”?Reading: ?A Trip on “The True North”.
通过中西方文化交流,提高学生跨文化交际的能力;
①提问法?—?逐步引导,逐渐深入;
②自主探究法?—?学生实践,巩固提高;
③归纳法与整理法?—?学生实践,形成积极的抽象思维;
④讨论法?—?积极参与,总结规律;形成正确的自我评价与相互评价;
T’s activity: Show a picture about Canada’s coast and a world map. Questions: Do you like traveling?
Do you like to travel abroad?
Where have you ever been?
What’s your impression/ feeling there?
Ss’ activity: Students may say “yes” and share their thoughts about their travel home and abroad.
T’s activity: Guide them find Canada on the map .

The important sentence pattern on the blackboard:

Ss’ activity: Brainstorm (possible words: beautiful, big, popular…/ mountains…)
T’s activity: Show the video to introduce Canada
Ask them the same question again.
Ss’ activity: Students may give more information /words to describe Canada, especially the word “livable”, which they may get from the video.
A Trip on “The True North”《“真北方”之旅》,为本课的教学做铺垫。
1. 问题引导:由简单问题Do you like traveling?
Canada is a ___________ country, where we can see______________.
Step?2?Prediction(时间:1分钟))
T’s activity: Guide the students to predict what will be included in this travel journal.
Questions: According to the title, can you predict what will be included in this travel journal?
Can you give me some “wh” words? For example, Who.
Ss’ activity: Students may give the right answers with my help.

Circle the places they covered and draw their travel route.
Step?4 ?Careful reading?
?? T’s activity: Guide the students go back to the prediction part to see whether it is right or not.
According to the Fast Reading, we have known the answers of” who” and “which places”, and the rest of the questions should be settled by careful reading.
(How did they go there? Why?What can they see during their journey? )
Careful reading
