Learning aims:
1. Students can analyze the structure of a brief biography.
2. They can write a brief introduction to a person according to what they read and learned in this class.
3. They can make a judgment on whether an article is good or not.

2. Encourage students to realize great achievement takes hard working.
3. Make students have confidence in themselves about becoming a better writer.
Teaching procedure
Step1: Lead-in
Have a review of what students learned yesterday.Ask students to find the information mentioned in the reading passage.
Task1.Ask students to find out Lin Qiaozhi’s birth date,occupation and achievements.
(It is designed to lead students to the topic of the unit,and remind them of the main points in the passage.)
Task2. Let students watch an interview and figure out the writer’s opinion about Lin Qiaozhi,or the evaluation.
(This task is planned to introduce students the main content of a brief introduction to a person,and also to practice their capacity of listening and information integration.)

Step2: Pre-Writing
Task1. Fill in the blanks of the given passage.
(Give students a story background to arouse their passion to help me overcome the difficulty.)
Task2. Read the passage again and find out the main idea of each paragraph.Ask students to have a group discussion.
(It helps students to know the structure of an introduction to a person and enable students to learn how to analyze this kind of article.)
Task3. Give students sample sentences and let them complete the sentences.
(It is used to lead them to find out what sentences they can use to make the article.)
Step3. Writing
Task1. Ask students write a brief introduction to Yuan Longping based on the structure and the sentences learned today.
(Give them a chance to put the theory into practice to check whether they can get the useful knowledge from the class.)
Step4 . Post-writing
Task1. Let students have a peer evaluation.
(In this way students can benefit a lot from each other,and it’s more effective than checked by the teacher only.)
Step5. Sum-up
I made a video about how to become a better writer. There are some practical ways to follow.
(Give some suggestions to help them improve their writing skills and have confidence in themselves)
Step 6 Homework
1. Preview unit2 to get more information of Yuan Longping and rewrite your passage.
2. Write an essay on a great person you admire, and try to use the structure and sentence patterns you learned today.
(The second one is optional.)
