We should never give up when we're challenged. The following three actresses have set a good example to us.
Sarah Jessica Parker
When Parker was little, she had to take up singing and dancing to help feed her big family.
Despite hard times, Parker's mom encouraged her children's interest in the arts. When Parker was 11 years old, the family took a trip to New York City, so Parker could audition (试演) for a Broadway play. The trip was a success — she and her brother were both cast, and then the family moved to New York. Parker continued to work hard and land roles, eventually becoming the title character of a famous TV show.
Emily Blunt
Before Blunt was nominated (提名) for Golden Globes and landing leading roles on the stage and big screen, she could hardly hold a conversation with her classmates: Between ages 7 and 14, Emily had a major stutter (口吃). But that all changed when one of her junior high teachers encouraged her to try out for the school play, which she thought was a totally unappealing(无吸引力的) thing at first due to the fact that she had such a hard time communicating. The teacher suggested she try accents and character voices to help get the words out and it worked. By the end of her teens, Blunt had overcome her stutter and went on to achieve the successful career she has now.
Shania Twain
Twain's career actually began more out of necessity than raw ambition. Her mom and stepfather often couldn't make enough to get by, so Twain started singing in bars to make extra money when she was just eight years old. She recalls her mother waking her up at all hours to get up and perform. Sadly, when she was 21, her mother and stepfather were killed in a car accident on the highway.
Twain put her career on hold to step in and take care of her younger brothers. Only when her youngest brother graduated from high school did she feel it was OK to head down to Nashville to pursue her career.

Emily Temple-Wood was 12 years old the first time she was bullied(欺凌) online. They left ugly comments on her Wikipedia and Facebook pages about her looks “that would make my mother’s hair curl.” says Temple-Wood, now 22 and in medical school. The reason? “I was a woman on the Internet,” she said.
Over the years, she considered how she might take revenge(复仇). Then, as a freshman in college, it hit her: “What do misogynists (men who hate women) hate most?” she asked herself. “Women who are productive!” Her solution: For every rude comment she received, Temple-Wood would post a biography(传记) of a woman scientist, and thus, in 2012, Wiki Project Women Scientists was born. She wrote about her heroes, like Barbara McClintock, who received the 1983 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, and Caroline Still Anderson, one of the first African American women to become a doctor in the United States, in the late 1800s. With help from other women, many of them scientists who have also been bullied online, Temple-Wood has published hundreds of these biographies and women of all ages have taken notice.
“When I was a kid, I could count the number of women scientists I knew about on one hand,” wrote Siko Bouterse, who used to work for the Wikimedia Foundation. “But our daughters have the chance to get much more knowledge about scientists who look like them because of Emily.
The ugly comments still come, says Temple-Wood. Being a strong woman online is not easy. “We all have days when we break down and need to have a glass of wine,” she says. “I tell people who are being bullied that it’s OK to be sad. But now you need to find a productive way to take revenge.”

Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross , gained worldwide honour for her devotion to easing human suffering and earned the nickname “Angel of the Battlefield”.
Barton was born into a freethinking family in 1821. Her elder brothers and sisters happily educated her in math and reading, so when she entered school at three years old, she could read and spell three-syllable words. 30
Concerned about Barton's difficulty in making friends, her parents sent her to a boarding school, hoping it would make her more comfortable with her peers. 31 Barton lost her appetite(食欲)and cried constantly. After only one term, she had to be brought home. Then, Barton stayed out of school to nurse her brother through a serious injury and also volunteered to care for poor families during a smallpox (天花)outbreak.
In 1861, the Civil War broke out. The sight of wounded soldiers touched Barton deeply. She began to collect and give away food, bandages, medicines, and other supplies to the Union Army.
32 There, with little concern for her own safety, she cooked meals, assisted surgeons, and comforted wounded soldiers.
Eventually, because of working too hard , Barton broke down finally. 33 It was there that she learned of an organization based in Switzerland called the International Committee of the Red Cross , whose work mirrored her own.
Shortly after Barton arrived back home in 1873,her sister died. 34 When recuperating(康复)at a health facility in New York, she began planning for the establishment of an American wing of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Although at first the government opposed it, her efforts finally paid off. The American Red Cross was officially organized on May 21, 1881.
