Step 1 Warming up
1. Sing a song
T: Are you ready for class? OK. Let’s begin our class. Good afternoon, boys and girls. Yesterday, we learn a new song. Can you sing it now?
T: Good! You sing so well! Is this song nice? I hope we will have a nice English class. OK?
2. Teaching aims
Now, look at today’s learning aims. To achieve these aims, we should try to read, try to listen, try to think, try to say.
In a word, we should try our best! Are you ready! Go!
Step 2 Review
1. Look and read
First, let’s try to read. When you see the word, please read it loudly! When you see “Hurray”, please say “Hurray” loudly.
2. Listen and say
Wonderful! As we know, we can read in the library. We can draw in the art room. Now, when I say “I like reading.” If you like reading, please stand up and say ‘library’. Now please listen carefully and say loudly.
Good job! We can do different things in different rooms. They make our school life colourful.
Step 3 Presentation
1. Ask and answer
There are also many rooms in Nancy’s new school, right?
Is there a library in Nancy’s new school? Yes, there is. Are there any computer rooms in Nancy’s new school? Yes, there are. How many computer rooms are there in Nancy’s new school?
Is there a playground? No, there isn’t.
Are there any art rooms? No, there aren’t.
Is there a table tennis room? Yes, there is.
Are there any classrooms in Nancy’s new school?
How many classrooms are there?
Is there a music room?
They’re the rooms in Nancy’s new school. Do you remember their position? Where are they? Where’s the library?
It’s on the third floor.
Where’re the computer rooms? They’re on the third floor too.
Where’s Nancy’s new classroom? It’s on the second floor.
Where’s the music room? It’s on the first floor.
Where’s the table tennis room? It’s on the first floor too.
2. Look and say
This is Nancy’s new school. There’s a music room and a table tennis room. They’re on the first floor. Nancy’s new classroom is on the second floor. There’s a library. It’s on the third floor. There’re two computer rooms. They’re on the third floor too. Can you say it like this? Please introduce Nancy’s new school to your partner.
3. Let’s learn.
T: just now, we use ‘first, second, third’ to describe floors. They’re ordinals. When we use them, we should say ‘the first, the second, the third’. What about these numbers?
They’re cardinals. We often use them to count. Can you match them? Is first from two? No, where is it from? How do you know this? Sometimes, we can judge them from their Chinese meanings. So one and first, they’re a couple. How about second? Where is it from? And third is...
4. Do some exercise
You read so well. Let’s try to use them correctly. P lease take out your exercise paper and finish part one.
5. Try to ask
We know Nancy’s new classroom is on the second floor. Do you want to know “what’s in her new classroom?” Please ask me. I know her classroom well.
6. Read and talk
Today, we learned “Is there...? / Are there ...?”They’re general interrogative sentences. Last Unit we learned
“There’s... / There’re...”They’re affirmative sentences. Please read these sentences and find out their differences. Now how to exchange them? You can discuss in pairs.
Step 4 consolidation
1. Do some exercise
You say so well. Let’s use them. Take out your exercise paper and finish it.
2. Let’s guess
Are you tired? Let’s have some fun. Here is a picture in my hand. It’s about a room or a place in school. Can you guess what room is it? Firstly, you can guess what’s in the room? Then you’ll get the answer easily.
